5.95 is what usps charges for a small flat rate box/ envelope. hes not dinging you on shipping, hes only charging what is charged to him.

Some vendors do not do this, they charge based on how much you spend and offering free shipping once you reach a cap of some dollar amnount. Though the vendors doing this likely take a hit on shipping when they charge you 2-3$ for your couple bottles of juice. Shipping with flat rate is actually better in the long run because the max is based on weight not size. USPS offeres many shipping choices for flat rate stuff.
