your display... can i haz?

on a serious note, how hard would it be to take the dna and have it working with your display?

I know it is sacrilege to talk about such things, but as this is something you cant sell, i would really like to see a display setup like that on a mod powered by something such as the dna

Going to be interesting to see what he says. Really in my opinion what he has now is better then the DNA/ darwin much more informative. The smart chip can be programmed to do wattage just like the darwin. Really what makes the darwin the darwin is the smart chip and the program written for it. Since you already have the smart chip to run the LED display you could even do a a single battery buck boost for a fraction of the cost of the DNA module. Basicly it boils down to the smart chip. If you have the skillz to program one and some imagination the sky is the limit.

this is the key point...

i can solder and put stuff together, but the level of work in this thread is nuts.
My mind shuts off at 5pm to keep me sane.
Work with my mind at work and work with my hands at home.

I really don't mind the cost of the DNA. Yes I can have better for less, but i don't have the level of skill as some of the modders on this forum. I am reading up on it as much as i can to educate myself, but the procrastinator within me would end up just purchasing the DNA.

I cant compete with the size, making this perfect for my tobacco pipe mod...

It's already breadboarded on my bench. The DNA and microprocessor.
Got the DNA to test from Brandon so, what the hell might as well put in the mcu. Yes Java, it can be done w/ the mcu w/o the DNA.

Air,

Quite the compact design there, I am not sure if the pics are playing havoc with my perception but that looks to a very very small 2x16 (?) display.

I've been almost exclusively a motorolla/freescale assembly programmer with only a few small designs back in the day with a 1208 pic processor.

Did you write the code in assembly?

Hardware/software pwm?

Sot-223 package for the power mosfet? Any heat issues with such a tight enclosure?

Any external protection like a smt ptc resettable fuse?

Decided to put the new DNA module in the new microprocessor / OLED mod. See: Evolve DNA 12 Mod
