Might be a stupid question

Hi,

i have a Smoktech magneto and ibtanked. I am not ready to go rba yet even though it is really tempting. I only used boge LR cartomizer.
does it matter what kinda battery I use for the magneto? I am looking for both 18650 and 18350. I have read the article by Baditude but I think it mainly applies to rba and rda. I searched around but couldn't find what I need. Does the mAh and amp matters for my setup?

thanks in advance.

As you're using a "mech", generally you need to be concerned with how low your battery gets before swapping it out with a fresh one. The batteries you list are all decent batteries (Although I prefer the AWs to the Efests). I've been using 18490 batteries lately and swap them out at around a half tank. Then swap again when it's time to refill the tank.

The 18350s will most likely be swapped out more often in your case. The 18650s will last longer. Keep track of the voltage (you DO have a multi-meter, right?) as you get used to each battery type. I try not to let mine get below 3.2 volts.

I literally had your exact same setup before I dove into RBAs. I have always used sony vtc4 batteries, and it would last all day. I have an eFest 18350 I pop in when I get home to give the Sony a break. Go with the highest amperage you can buy, you'll need it when you get into rebuildables.

That's what I am thinking too, get the best and I can use it for rba if I decided to go that route

Buying a top end battery has an added benefit besides safety for RBA, RDA use. A better quality battery will have a better discharge curve. That is it will remain in the 4.2 - 3.7 volt range longer giving you better performance vaping. A cheap battery will tend to discharge faster to a lower voltage level 3.7 - 3.7 volts in use.

Both batteries may have say a 2200 mah rating, but the better battery will maintain a higher voltage longer as it discharges. Important for a mech mod as there isn't any voltage regulation.
