Hydrotherapy. HydroTherapy if often effective for migraine. Soaking your hands in hot water at the first sign of a migraine helps to regulate circulation and can avert a fullblown migraine episode. Relax, breathe deeply, and soak your hands in the water for 15 minutes.

I was wondering why this seemed to work for me so I did a search and found this. You might give this a try, it certainly works pretty well for me.

Interesting. I'm definitely going to try that... If I remember. ;-)

Get ye to your Dr. and get a script for Imitrex or Zomig, stops a migraine in it's tracks in 15 mins. I've been using one or the other for almost 20 yrs. I believe they shut off the serotonin receptors in the brain thus stopping the migraine.

That is not recommended for anyone with heart issues or with family history of heart disease. My dr has put those as allergies on my chart for just that reason.

I've had migranes forever. Once in a blue moon, if I think my headache is trying to turn into one, I can get relief from that otc migrane med. I always try it first. Other then that, I had to see a neurologist and get some RX stuff that really does work. Migranes are horrible, honestly, childbirth was easier and I didn't get any pain med for that (not by choice, long story there). If you can't get any relief, it really is worth it to see a neuro about them. I had to try 3 or 4 different scripts, but we found one that worked for me. I've actually had less migranes and headaches since I started vaping (except for when I gave myself a nic headache after a fairly large MS T's order came in, LOL, we won't talk about that, but it was all so good...) Think about seeing a Dr., there are so many triggers for these things, you'd be suprised. Good luck.

A migraine is some of the worst pain I have ever felt. I wouldn't wish one onmy worst enemy. I get one every other month (weird) right after PMS. I am so looking forward to menopause. The only thing that helps at all if Vernors ginger ale and a day or two in bed.

I also get stress headaches and sinus headaches which are almost as bad. Muscle pain in my back or shoulders wil travel up to my head. Doans or Momentum is the best med for muscles stress. It is an OTC, but it's better than Vicodin.

Sinus pressure or infection will cause pain almost as bad as a migrain too. Keeping my sinuses cleaned out with saline nasel spray works as a preventative. If it does hit, I use Excedrin (asprin, tylenol and caffiene together) and Sudafed - it has to be the real stuff that you get behind the counter now.

Have your eyes checked. Not having the right glasses perscription can cause severe pain. The eye muscles have to work too hard. This sounds weird, but sometimes the only thing I can do is read a book. My eyes are focused on one thing at one distance away. Having to chnge focus from things close up and then far away, or just moving objects is too much work for my eyes.

And of course Draminine and ginger ale. I don't know if migraines cause nausea, or if the pain is so bad I just want to puke. LOL

Hope you feel better.

You dont mention whether your job requires the use of a computer or are you wearing glasses. I work on computers alot and also wear glasses and have headaches alot from the strain on the eyes. I am nearsighted and tend to wear my glasses even on the computer which only worsens my headaches. I also had a problem with the PG when I started vaping giving me headaches and stricly use VG now which has helped some. A simple eye exam could be needed for a different script or possibly needing glasses.
My job requires constant thinking and it really drains my mind. I sit at a desk for 8 hours a day and my neck and shoulders get stiff. I think that worsens/causes the migraines. I get ocular migraines and I'm sensitive to sunlight.
I never had any migraines when I was in school but after starting to work a couple months, I started getting them :(

I have tried stress-relieving lotions (doesn't help in my opinion), leaving curtains closed (that only does so much when the rest of the office has their curtains open wide), do a little bit of muscles-relaxing exercises in the washroom (hehe).

Do you guys think vaping helps or worsens migraines (I haven't tried it yet but so far vaping is causing me headaches I think...not sure though...it could be the PG)?
What do you guys do to lessen the headaches and symptoms?
Does regular exercise help?

Migraines suck!

I've been getting them since I was 7-ish. For some reason I'm one of those extra lucky people and NONE of the meds work for me...usually just makes me sick to my stomach. I've been to every Tom, Richard and Harry...have had umpteen million scans and tests and they cannot give me any answers. Not: why I get them, what causes them nor why none of the meds used to treat migraines work. The weather does seem to be one trigger I've figured out...if there is a big front coming I start whimpering! :( So, I've come to the conclusion....migraines happen and they suck!

Five years ago I was getting 2 or 3 migraines a week and they sometimes lasted 10 days or more. The last neuro I saw(about 6 years ago) told me I had the worst CAT scan (taken during an attack) he had ever seen. He also said I had permanent vascular damage due to the length and severity of my migraines. His treatment suggestion was to have 3 to 4 .5mm holes drilled into the back of my head to help relieve cranial pressure. Yep...he wanted to drill HOLES in my head...right.

So since traditional medicine totally failed me when it came to migraine relief, I started trying out some non-traditional stuff. Yoga helps me prevent migraines. I think its 'cause I'm more relaxed and centered...not to mention flexible. Acupuncture every 10 to 14 days helps prevent and if I get one I run to Mr Lee (my acupuncturist)and he pokes me til the pain subsides. This probably wouldn't be good for someone scared of needles but works great for me. (My previous treatment being...suffer for several days and when I couldn't stand it anymore I would go to the ER and they would shoot me up w/ enough morphine til I passed out for a day or two.)

I've also tried to cut chemicals out of my life. I eat organic. I switched to plant-based cleaners. I also stopped using any soaps, lotions, makeup etc. w/ parabins, sulfates, petro-chemicals, artificial dyes, etc in them. I figured the less toxins I put in or on my body the better. (How hippie of me...haha)

So, the verdict. I now get 1 to 2 migraines every 30 to 60 days. They tend to last from 12 to 96 hours. That I can live with. And....I'm hole free!

Thya, my heart goes out to you, that has to be about the worst I've ever heard in regard to headaches. I certainly wish you luck in finding a cure that works for you.

Thanks Apple!!:D I have to say that changing my lifestyle and being healthier has really help w/ the severity and length of my migraines. I've got my two daughters doing Yoga w/ me (for about 4 months now) as they were getting migraines as well (unfortunately it tends to be hereditary)and their frequency has dropped significantly. They usually just get them once a month w/ their periods now. Which is better than the once a week they were experiencing before.

I've just gotten back from the optitians after having an eye test. The reason I went was because since starting smoking my new e cig 3 days ago I've noticed bright lights glowing which I finally worked out were called "halos".

This scared the hell out of me as you apparently get these with glaucoma.

The eye test results have come back fine. Nothing wrong with my vision but I am going to see a glaucoma specialist in 5 weeks just in case but really can't see how I'd be the only person in the world to get this as a result of vaping.

I just read you get these halos prior to a migrane (which I've never had before) and so am wondering if maybe something like that might be what is happening.

I haven't got what I'd call a headache even yet so it's a bit odd but maybe one is on the way, hence these halo things.

Not sure whether to stop vaping for a few days or keep going to see if it does result in some kind of migrane.

I'm not giving up on this dam it!

Hi Ade..May I suggest you see a Dr. about diabetes? If your halos are not coming from migraines..they could be from the eye changes due to diabetes. I have diabetes and can tell you it can happen. My vision was getting bad, then my Dr. put me on insulin..halos, blurred vision and trouble focusing. It all went away once I got used to the meds. What amazed my Dr. was that I didn't have these symtoms all along!

I have been a migraine sufferer for about 15 years and when I'm in the throes of a bad one, I feel as though my head is going to explode. I become nauseous, super sensitive to light, smells and noise and need to be in a cool dark place. Most of the time my migraines are foreshadowed by an aura and I try and take a Maxalt tablet, which dissolves under the tongue. If that doesn't waylay it, an Imitrex inhaler will usually give me some relief if I take it before it is full blown. I have been taken to the hospital at least 5 times because the pain is so intense. A hospital, IMHO, is one of the worst places to be when experiencing a migraine because it is super bright, noisy and full of smells. However the morphine that I have gotten each time has worked wonders even though it leaves me loopy.

Triggers for me include not enough sleep, MSG, stress, eating certain foods and caffeine.

I was having a full blown migraine, with at least one day of residual headache afterward, twice a month. In the almost 8 months since I have been vaping, I can count on one hand how many migraines I have had.

I can't explain why my migraines have lessened and if its because of vaping. All I know is that I am definitely happy about it. My heart goes all to all the migraine sufferers in the world. I wouldn't wish the experience on my worst enemy....well maybe. :)

I get all kinds of headaches and if it is really a migraine, you'll know it, because the level of sensitivity is so high. You are so sensitive to light and sound, to quote a friend of mine, "you can hear the electricity running through the walls."

Prescription medicine has never worked for me, and actually can make me feel worse the next day, like my head was put through a blender. I take a Goody powder and coffee or other caffeinated drink and if I do not catch it early enough, I get in a dark quite room with a big bag of ice across my face and ride it out. I am lucky that mine never last longer than a day that way.

One big trigger I have found are the fluorescent lights they have in most large and even some small buildings. I keep extra sunglasses on me and wear them even when I am inside. I get strange looks especially at church, but I will take the looks if it prevents a migraine.
