Today started off on the wrong foot... er... tire...
On the way into work, my Escape died again. The last time it happened we thought it was the battery and I replaced it... once it happened again this morning, I'm pretty sure it was the alternator. So I called an auto
shop that everyone had recommended and got a quote from them. They said the aftermarket versions they've tried have been problematic ( they are Napa repair
shop, so they weren't even liking their own ) and they recommended a Motorcraft instead... they only found new ones and they listed them at $850 before labor ( labor was only going to be $115 )... Since the Escape was already 10 yrs old and other things were likely to start dying... I thought it was best to bite the bullet and look at getting something else.
So I headed over to the Ford dealer and looked around. I still needed the space that a mid sized SUV provides since I still haul the ex-GF around to her doctor appointments and wheel chairs aren't tiny. I ended up going with a new 2020 Escape Titanium Hybrid. It's rated to get 44mph city and 37 hwy... I didn't get that backwards, the hybrids get better mileage in town than they get on the highways.
