Mk, my sister just finished her 10th week of radiation for breast cancer. She was very tired, wasn't bad at first, then progressively more. The skin of her breast, reddened, and dried out some, was some small swelling, (which also may have been what was still left from the surgery to have the lump removed) She was also still sore to the touch in the breast area, again may have all been from the surgery, and didn't really get a chance to heal before the radiation started. She also will be taking a med for the next 5 years. At this point she is cancer free, not sure how this pill is to help her, but shes gonna take it. Now if they can fix her emphysema and her copd life would be good. :(

Keeping you and your hubby in my prayers, as I believe they help, stay strong and love your man with ever fiber of your being!

Oh gosh MK this is the 1st time I'm checking in here, and I'm so sorry. You are an amazingly strong woman, and you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I don't know very much about this disease but if you need anything even just someone to vent to we are all here for you. If there is anything I can do please ask.

I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends! Mike says thanks for everything.
We are not as stressed now that I have read up. He keeps forgetting what all is happening.

It's great to have friends to talk to. I haven't told my Women's club except for my oldest and dearest friend. I don't know why.

The V.A. called and told Mike to discontinue a couple of meds..well duh!

MamaD..Love to your sister!

Hairball..Hugs and love to your Mom!
Anyone dealing with this type of ..um stuff please post. We can hold each other's hands and learn something.

My prayer's and hug's are going out to you and your intire families MK and Keyz, as things like this do affect the whole family. My daughter inlaw had Cirrhosis of the liver, from drinking, once she stopped about 3 years ago her liver started healing it's self and she is fine today, she does have to watch what meds she take's though, also what pop she drinks, I don't know if that kind of Cirrhosis is different or not, but with all of Mike's other propbems, I can't imagine how he can deal with the pain without meds, it must be so hard on him and my heart goes got to him.

Keyz, I had a brain tumor removed about 10 years ago, it was not maligmant but it was just a mil away from my optical nerve on the left side, it did cause some damage to my eye sight in my right eye and if not taken out eventually I would lose all sight in my right eye, it was scary but at the sme time I knew it had to come out, I kept a positive attitude and the surgery went fine. Hoping and praying you have the same results.

Love you both.

Keyzy..do you have a laptop so you can stay in touch? It may help the waiting. My kids and Mike's daughter were with me and drove me insane! Mike's daughter is a surgical tech and is married to a Doctor..it was so much fun to sit with her and her graphic details! I thought Mike's doctor was going to knock her out.
I take my I-pod with books on it to listen to when I have to wait for Mike..that and trips to the ladies so I can vape.
Mike swears the triple by pass and his colon surgery weren't half as bad as his gall bladder surgery (back when they gave you a 7 inch scar instead of two little holes!
Keep us informed..as you can. Luv u!

Anything I can answer lemme know! My thoughts and support for everyone! I have taken care of many w/ cancer they all were great additions to my life, one I lost a couple years ago is part of the reason I'm in school for nursing. I made a promise, and I do my damnedest to keep them. It's still hard, all I can do is make them comfortable by the time they get to me, at the nursing facility. I always wish I could do more.
I wish you the best with you and yours!

With seed implants there is the risk of you being exposed to radiation, even though they are small. When someone has been set up w/ implants they are usually on bed rest. Things may have changed since my text book was written. With the implants you have a better chance of getting closer to the tumor. But all in all if it saves trips and maybe a bit lower radiation exposure on Mike's part it may be better for him. What were they saying with his arrangements if he got implants? It all depends on the cancer w/ the track record, that I am not so sure on. Radiation is radiation no matter how it's achieved, he may do better w/ a longer exposure with the implants, than just the directed surface stuff. I am by far no expert, but I hope this bit of info is helpful! *BIG HUGS*
