I guess I would ask how long they are active for. On one hand it's nice that you have a close contact to the tumor. And they are pretty easily implanted with minimal invasion. Plus they can be used for tags to keep track of the area. They are a relatively new technology and may not have had long term follow up on people who have used them. Ask the Dr which has a better long term sucess rate.

MK I so sympathize with you.
DH stubbornly has used the VA for years, and I do believe that is their answer to just about everything---something wrong, prescribe more meds.
I imagine you are like me, you knew/know the pills were going to kill but they kept adding more and more until DH wasn't/isn't functional.
I just recently (after years of trying) got DH to go to see an outside doctor who quickly diagnosed a torn rotator cuff. Ortho just did the surgery. Once DH has recovered, the new outside neurosurgeon for his neck pain goes into action.
That three combo of doctors have done more in the last month than the VA did in years.
So I implore you, get Mike to an outside doctor!!!
My heart does go out to you and I wish the best for Mike and you.

So far the V.A. has been top notch..except for the too many pills part. But the Dr. recomended is just down the street. The V.A. is 15 miles away by freeway and all that traffic. Cutting the 8 week program down by half is looking pretty good. If he does start getting very tired then I will have to drive..nobody wants to see me at 7am..5 days a week! Bt the end of 8 weeks they will start yelling down the hall.."Hide, here SHE comes!" There is no amount of vape or coffee that would help!
Whis..thank you..very kind of you.

Keyzy! Oh heads will roll! Let me at them! I will go see them at 7am..as reported I am at my pissyest!
When Mike had his colon surgery, mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. Mike's Dr had already set his date, Mom's Dr. moved her's up..within 3 days of Mikes. Mom had had that lump for 3 years..it just started growing. I begged the Dr. to please back hers up by a week...but NO he had a vacation coming up. So I spent 2 weeks running between Tampa and St. Cloud before I could get Mom up to St. Cloud.

MK - My dad had prostate cancer. They did surgery and it had spread to the lymph nodes. They did hormone replacement treatments. It was one shot every month for I think a year. He is cancer free. The surgery was at MD Anderson.

It has been a few years ago and the only long term effect is he has osteoporosis from the hormone treatments. Other than that he is his old self as he is nearing his 80th birthday.

Good doctors can work miracles. I'm sending prayers your way.
