Oh..I meant to add I see the irony of doing radiation treatments and a getting x-rays..what's a bit more radiation..lol But it still drives me crazy!

Mike said all went well today..in and out no problems! Except he ran into the mother of all traffic jams..morning traffic going into downtown at 8am. The dreaded war cry of men everywhere.."we need to miss the traffic"!

Poor Mike.Can he leave earlier and have coffee near the VA?

He goes in at 6:30 and his treatment is at 7am..no problems getting there. It's coming home that he runs into traffic. There is 1 count em. 1 major artery (I-275) back into Tampa unless you want to go at a snails pace on ground roads. The V.A. is in North Tampa..we live just to the West of Downtown which is in mid Tampa. So he leaves at 7:30am and hits the morning rush into Tampa.

A half hour and all that would be gone....what if he stopped for coffee at the VA or somewhere ?

I dunno Classy..then you have the 9am workers heading in. I think if he just gets off at Hillsbough instead of MLK he would miss some of the malfunction juction traffic (I4 and I275)

I just hate going that way anytime of day...poor planning....

MK...sounds like Mike is getting his fair share of challenges each day. I'm from a pretty small town so the traffic jams would make me very nervous. Hopefully he can figure out an alternate route that even if it takes a little longer isn't so stressful. Since he's going to be doing this for awhile I sure hope he can get things worked out.

He has made it his mission in life to find the exact moment to get on the freeway..lol men are weird! I would just lost in an audio book and chill. Of couse then I would get lost for real. But as I always tell the G'boys..it's just another adventure!

We are O.K., but Mike sleeps most of the day away. he is fine until about 10am (his radiation is at 7am) Then it's downhill after that. I have been trying to keep him awake with trips out of the house but they don't last too long.
His hot flashes are getting worse..he is keeping a bowl of ice water by the bed to wipe his face down with..then he gets the chills! He has never been the type of guy to dismiss female troubles..but even so he wants to know how women stand this stuff!
All I could tell him was welcome to our world..now you know why I fight to keep my hormone pills!

How does a woman know if she needs to take hormone pills, Mark Kay? How do you get the pills - from a doctor's checkup? I don't go to doctors, haven't been to a doctor for years until I had a bad tummy ache and started sicking up and passing out - turned out to be appendicitis but that was about 8 years ago.

Thats not good MK,poor guy.Its so crappy when you dont feel well and cant go anywhere or do anything.Make sure he doesnt get depressed.

Poor Mike- that sounds awful. Any word from the VA on the motorized wheelchair?

We are both doing great.I took my daughter school shopping on Monday and made it through without any issues.I was so happy and proud of myself.Ive been cautious about running around to much and getting dizzy and nauseous cuz I didnt want the kids to get nervous about it.But all went well and it was like a milestone day for me.It really raised my confidence level and made me feel much better about myself.Silly but true,lol!Jeff is doing great.He is still having issues with the wires that hold his chest together.It bothers him a bit.He says its not painful just that he can feel it and it makes him uncomfortable.Not much can be done about it,so he will just have to adjust.Its funny how we can feel these things inside our bodies.I can feel the prosthetic bones and they feel like they dont belong in there sometimes.I guess I just have to adjust too,LOL!Thank you for asking and all in all everything is going good!
