OK, I ordered the mini a few months ago, and I bought the extension cap since I had 2 almost new 18490s. They have been working great, so I haven't bought the 18350s yet.
I have a couple of 18350s that are not AW IMR, and I've put them in to see what the size difference is. When I put the Trustfire and the other (plain blue wrapper that was given to me) batteries in, the bottom cap will not close all the way. I have about 1/8 inch left to close. Are the AW IMR batteries that much smaller? The 18490s I have seem to have a protection circuit on them, so I would assume the 18350 AW IMRs do as well.

Also, 99% of the time I am vaping at 3.7V, I use the LR stuff because I like the fact that my 18490s last all day long at 3.7V.
Since I am not discharging at more than 3.7, can I use the non AW IMR batteries?

Just curious, I know the bats aren't expensive, I just haven't gotten around to buying them... I spend so much on carts, tanks, juice my wife is gonna kill me if I need to buy more batteries.

Do NOT try to close the cap with anything other then a IMR battery in there. Protected batterys are longer and wont fit. They will break your Provari because it will push the main circuit board up . Just get some IMRs. You can use protected batterys with the spacer ring provape sells but i still only recomend IMRs .Protected batterys dont have as high a c rating as IMRs.Also imo never use those blue wrapper fires in any ecig. Thats kinda asking for a explosion

You know the drill... The VV Provari must be used with IMR batteries due to the high amp draw... A little tip, use a higher OHM rated atty... They work better in a VV device.... I use a custom HH357 3.0 ohm atty set at 5.5 volts= 10.08 watts... A great vape IMO....

My question tho, was if I am only using it at 3.7V am I incurring the higher amp draw?
...but I have the AW IMRs on order, so this is all moot now.

I have tried the higher voltage/ohm stuff, but I prefer the 3.7-4.0V because my batteries last all day long.
Now that I'm getting 18350s, I will have less run time and I don't think I want to carry all my batteries with me, or buy a charger to have at work.

Depends on resistance. At 3.7v, with a 1.5ohm carto it pulls about 2.5a...

I believe aw IMR doesn't have protection ic which is why your batts are longer. The protection logic is built into provari control board instead...

My understanding is non IMRs don't fit correctly and tend to fire intermittently.
