Is there a common, small, cheap, readily available, mini connector for wiring. I have beat the battery monster, but I want to make my devices/power sources more flexible. I don't want a USB at my passthrough. A mini USB would be OK but where do you get the female mini?
The standard USB is too big/bulky. I want it right out of my passthrough so I can run it from the lighter, the wall adapter, my battery pack, and still fit in my case without carrying around a bunch of cable! Something like the plugs on the cordless phone batteries, but both male and female that I can wire in. I don't want to tear my phone apart but I may be sucking on it soon!:-x
I regret recycling/ebaying all the excess electronics last year.
I ordered some connectors on DE but who knows when they will get here and how small they will be. I'm getting impatient.

Oh, and any sugestions on a female connector for the plug that fits in the charger(4081)? it's the small plug, and I guess I could make something... but Damn that's tedious, like making your own switches...!

In auto stuff years ago, we called them "quick disconnects". What/Where are they now? What is the smallest you can get?

Thanks for the links. All I need is the 2 wires for pwr so it seemed silly to buy USB at this point. I will get there, but right now I'm having fun making Mods out of things I have lying around. I just don't have alot of dead USB stuff lying around.

And I want something that only connects one way! (Over 40 eyesight...)
I'm pushing 8 weeks on my hardware and want to have evolved when these batteries croak.

My passthrough works on the wall or either car lighter, but it is cumbersome now, and I want a USB for that too. I built a "In Case of Emergency" battery pack, and would like to be able to just swap devices. Like Plug n Play!

I think I will see what the DE shipment brings... or check the local hobby shop before I order these.... damm, another dead battery....the end is near......:p

If you're looking for a one way connection, then try (again) dean's ultra plugs. The form factor is bigger than the micro plugs, but still relatively small. Dimensions are:
Male:12.5mmX6mmX7mm
Female:12.5mmX10mmX7mm
The tabs on these are also pretty easy to solder.

Thanks, those look perfect!
