That's funny, just got done trying this myself.
Micro-coil on what I believe is a 16 or 17 gauge blunt needle as 10 wraps always comes out to 1.8 ohms. I see people recommending the 2mm ekowool, but the stuff is incredibly thick as the 2mm is the internal diameter. Knew it was going to be a no go when I received the package. Boiled anyway and tried a couple different things. It's a little tricky, but you can unbraid the ends into the individual strands and get 5 twisted and threaded into the micro-coil I describe without being too tight. Tried 4 and 6 strands as well as different flavor wick configurations. All tasted weird. Next day boiled remaining ekowool cord 3 times for 20 min. Let dry and retried with the same results. Went back to boiled cotton balls for now.
I'll probably pick up the 1mm ekowool in the future even though I'm pretty sure it will still be too thick and I don't see what will change as far as the flavor is concerned. I haven't tried torching the ekowool yet. Kinda done with it for now as I burned a couple days off messing with the stuff, but look forward to your results.
