Mini Tank or Clearomizer?

I have been advised to upgrade from carts to a mini tank or Kanger 808D T4S Clearomizer.
I am not a smoker and this is for my elderly mother that I will be caring for. She has transitioned to e-cigarettes and I ordered a Halo Starter kit with carts.

The Kanger appears to be a better choice since the tip screws in as opposed to just pushing in?

Are there any differences I should consider?

Is there a suggested time and way to clean these?

I don't plan to be swapping out juices. I ordered the Torque56.

Thanks.

mini-tanks will be easier to maintain then carto's, and offer a lot more flavor. cleaning is as simple as rinsing them in water and once every couple of weeks soak them over night in either PGA or Vodka or Denture Cleaner. they will be as good as new after that.

as for the mouthpiece, unless your mother has a habit of biting on the end, it wont make much difference. The mouthpiece of the Halo Mini-Tank is still pretty secure.

The Kanger (at least from the pictures i see online) would be almost exactly the same to maintain. Except for the mouthpiece, the two probably come from a similar mold or schematic.

Either is a good choice. We are partial to Halo's, of course.

Hey, it's not like it's a $25 tank. They are $4. If Mom likes them, get 4 or 5 and rotate them. And let her try a few of the other flavors. TriBeCa is sweeter than Torque, but minimal tobacco flavor. If she is into peppermint, the best is Kringle's Curse. But I would dedicate a tank to that!

Smokers had one flavor. But as a vaper, she has possibilities, freedoms!! Let her know there are lots of great flavors out there. She doesn't need to commit to just one. I think the majority of us here are multiple flavor users.

And welcome to the Halo section!!!!

Hello and welcome doctordun! Although I'm not a big fan of the mini tanks, (they can run a little hotter than I like), they're easier to use and clean than cartos (imo). Also, like Dave said, you don't have to stick with one flavor, in fact it's a good idea to switch up to avoid getting the dreaded 'vaper's tongue' or 'vaper fatigue'. Either way, your mom should enjoy the minitank or carto. Halo also makes a great LR (low resistance) carto if she likes a warmer draw. It feels more like a real cigarette and the tip of the minitank can be used interchangeably with the cartos.

Just my opinions, others may have had different results.

Cartomizers:
~ Work great for the first fill, afterwards the draw feels like sucking a ball through a straw.
~ Vapor is waaay less then the mini tank / clearomizers
~ Taste is different, slightly muted even on the low resistence cartomizers
~ I personally don't recommend them

Mini Tanks:
~ Flavor and vapor much better then the cartomizers
~ Vapor is HOT, and it sometimes "spits" and it might burn your lip if you take long drags.
~ Filling is annoying without a syringe, but not a big deal if you have steady hands.
~ Draw gets hard after moderate use / refills, don't bother cleaning more then once.

Clearomizers ( Halo triton ):
~ Vapor and flavor much, much improved over mini tanks and carts.
~ Vapor is cooler for the most part, you won't get a warmer/hot vape unless you get a low ohm resistance coil which halo doesn't sell.
~ Cleaning / Rewicking coils is worth it if you want to save money, with light juices I get 3-4 tanks worth then clean, get another 3 tanks worth, then toss. I'm spending around 1.40 per coil by getting the Kanger T2 coils instead of the halo ones.
~ Trim the long wicks for better performance if you top your tanks off instead of running it down all the way.

if you fire your battery for a few seconds without taking the first drag, that will eliminate the initial 'pop' and it will go much more smoothly from there.

filling mini-tanks using the Halo eye-dropper is too easy, even easier if using the smaller bottles with the built in droplet top.

general consensus is that mini-tanks can be cleaned upwards of a dozen times or more. an overnight soak in PGA or Denture Cleaner makes them almost brand new. *edit* to clarify, lighter liquids will clean a lot of times. heavier or darker liquids less so. Since the OP is using Torque, as long as he cleans at regular intervals, the mini-tanks will last quite a while.

My 2 cents as a lot of what I'd have said is covered. I skipped cartos for all the reasons given, muted flavor, limited reuse etc. the mini-tanks i didn't want to deal with refilling often which to me meant more cleaning as well.

I will say flavor rotation is a must, i only had 2 tanks to start with which meant one bein cleaned and one for use = only one flavor at a time and you WILL get vape tongue/fatigue which sucks ..... i'm growing the pool of juices n tanks slowly, right now have a rotation of 4 (2 cleaning = 2 in use) and I am a LOT happier. Cleaning, there are a bunch of different methods and to be honest I probably drove everyone in here a little batty with my first week if Triton use lol. simplest way to put it is like wheezal said clearer/lighter the juice easier to clean, hot water rinse and soak. darker juices need more attention, hot water rinse, denture cleaner, hot water soak etc. find what works for you with some trial and error. muy settled on cleaning method is a hybrid of those given.
