Just a heads up. I bought four Mini Novas from fasttech and have been using them for a few weeks now without issue. Today I screwed on onto my mech (just snug, not tight at all), hit the button and was rewarded with the mech getting warm...
Hmmm, not good. I took everything apart, inspected the battery for damage... none. I checked the mech for issues like dirty threads, shorts etc, even measured ohms and continuity... perfect... Checked the atty, 1.8 ohms which is exactly what I built...
I screwed the atty into the head and checked the ohms at the threads and positive pin.... oops! .01 ohms!
Looks like the insulating grommet for the positive pin of the atty has been munched a bit. With no pressure on it there is no contact and it reads normal resistance across the coil. When threaded into a battery/holder the pin gets pushed in, the grommet squeezes out and it creates a dead short.
Not likely to be an issue on Evod batteries or devices with short protection, but could be very bad on a mech!
I was just trying to vape the last bit of juice from the atty as I'm done with this type.
Again, this is just a heads up. If something just seems not quiet right with your gear, stop and verify!
