(Well, you are asking for music that evokes memories.... you didn't say the music had to be particularly good!)

This song reminds me of playing at a particular park with a friend. Despite the fact that the park was only five minutes walking distance from his house, we rarely went to that park. The one time that we spent time there (perhaps the only time that we did), there were a number of families having picnics and it seemed that the Hustle was being played on every transistor radio.

OMG..I am showing my age. When I was young we all had record collections. The LP covers were works of art. We practically wore out Rush LP's.

My Mother might not have liked Zappa  but she watched a TV special with me about Jethro Tull once, and really liked them, espcially Ian Anderson... so much that when she got a canary she named it Ian, because it stood on one leg when it sang... LOL!!
So when I found out they were coming to town again, I kept bugging the guy at the Box Office to find out when tickets were going on sale, telling him that I wanted to take my Mother... and when the day finally came, he gave me seats in the 1st few rows right in the middle of the floor!!

The show opened with Charles Lloyd, a really nice Jazz band, then It's a Beautiful Day, and finally Tull. She remarked about the music being a little loud at 1st, but then settled back to enjoy it.
Some people behind us tried to pass her one of them 'funny looking cigarettes' (lol) but she just smiled and politely said "No thank you"... and I could hear them giggling!!

I found this video from the same tour that year... :) (and one of my fave songs. too)

I had to look it up online because I couldn't remember the exact date/year, and here is the setlist I found... notice what the last song was... ;)

10/18/70 - LA Forum - Inglewood, Ca. USA

Sold-out show (audience: 18,600).
Support: Charles Lloyd, It's A Beautiful Day.
Nothing Is Easy, My God (incl. flute solo), With You There To Help Me/By Kind Permission Of..., A Song For Jeffrey, Sossity: You're A Woman/Reasons For Waiting, Dharma For One (w. drum solo), We Used To Know, Guitar Solo, For A Thousand Mothers

Aqualung came out the next year, and I don't think I would have taken her to see that... LOL!! (but it was a great show, too)
She really liked It's a Beautiful Day, so I got her the LP for Xmas... although I took it with me when I finally moved out, because she didn't have anything to play it on with my stereo gone... :(

Thinking more about my Mom... she also liked The Who's 'Tommy' when it came out, and expressed a desire to see them in Concert, too.. but I had to explain to her that they were not quite like that in concert. (especially if she thought that Tull was loud... lol)
So when the movie version 1st came out, I took her up to Hollywood to see it, and we had a nice lunch up on Sunset Strip before we saw the movie. I remember that she had a Spinach Salad, and had never eaten raw spinach or mushrooms before, even though she grew up on a farm!!

Oddly enough, one of her favorite songs on the LP was this one... although I'm not sure if she ever really listened to the lyrics closely... LMAO!!

Here is a really nice clip of Moonie (R.I.P.) doing the song... although he didn't sing it on the LP, I think he made the perfect Uncle Ernie!! ;)

My Mother passed away in 2008, and was suffering from Dementia, so our last few years together were really hard for me.

Thank you for helping me to remember the Good Times with this contest!!

I always think of my grandfather when I hear this song. He used to tease me when I played it as a teen by switching the first letter of the song from a V to a P and acting like he really thought that's what they were saying. Boy, I miss him.

This song was popular when my ex-husband was 18 and he used to love to sing it. It always makes me think of him and how young we were way back then.

Yeah, that song was kinda the teen anthem back in my day, too... and when one of my friend's daughter turned 18, she played it for her!! :D (poor kid... lol)

Dan Folgelberg lived on our island, and the reach is the stretch of water between us and the mainland.

A Reach is any stretch of water (or land), especially between other items. The Reach is also a great short story by Stephen King in his Skeleton Crew collection

Yeah, but Dan Fogelberg's house was on the Reach, and that is what he wrote the song about. He lived and died on Reach Road in Deer Isle, Maine. Stephen King also mentioned our reach in some of his books. I'm not a Stephen King fan, so I don't know whether or not his story is about our Reach.

I never knew until I read a couple of articles looking for one to link to that no one knew he lived on Deer Isle. For us, he was just another guy who lived here. We'd see him in the stores, and he did benefit concerts.

Here's one story about him:
