I ordered 48mg nic at 70% PG and 30% vg from wizard labs should be here today.
Also a bottle of just VG no nic.

I will go get some essential oils today most likely clove and menthol from the herb store. Although maybe ansie as someone mentioned that goes well with cloves.

I have tried a few calculators and math wise I am a mess. But am trying to figure this thing out.

target: 24mg nic

I get conflicting information it seems but I do believe more vg gives more vapor and less TH.
Alternately PG gives more TH and less vapor. Correct?

I will start by making a small batch of 3-5 ml. or so.

Logically lets say 10 drops of the 70/30 nic
then 8 drops of vg
2 drops of flavoring

Does that sound about right to get target 24mg.

And I guess I can always add vinegar or dist. water or alcohol to cut, if VG ratio seems to high for TH or vapor content.

Any ideas? thanks in advance.:)

Your concept is sound. The use of drops for the nic-base and VG will result in a lower mg than you think from the numbers as the drop sizes will not be the same between the two. But working in the 3-5ml range is the way to go because there is less room to make it too low for you.

The only reason you would want to cut with alcohol or water is if the mix is too thick for your equipment. Vinegar is a different animal altogether.

May want to hang around the DIY E-Liquid sub and read the stickys and since you are able, post your questions there.

Reading my blogs will give you some insight to the mixing process too.

Have Fun Terry!

Your ratios are right to get to 24mg. And...the PG/VG sounds about right...it's not critical that you get those exact. Be careful of what flavorings you use....you DON'T want anything oil based. You want a PG based flavoring, basically. It has to be water-soluble. I don't know what herb store you're referring to, but you should check out the suppliers forums for DIY liquids. I started by getting some Lorann's flavorings at a cake-baking shop. I don't think I'd ever vape vinegar.....

That is where the conflicting info gets in for me. Some say that they are not really oils at all even tho it says oil. But the important part I think is water soluble. So I will ask the store if they have oils that are PG or VG based and go from there.

That list, red green blue, of flavors also conflicts me with the orange being in red. I think I get a good idea of something then another person says just the opposite. Is orange essential oil safe or not. I guess Loranns orange is artificial then if it is safe. Or any other brand. And natural orange is not safe?

I understand the real oil based flavors can gunk up the cart.

I have read much of that thread and still am conflicted. Are there any real absolutes in this. other than a few of the big ones like petro based oils.

I just found a bottle of Eucalyptus,Spearmint essential oil on my shelf, blended with safflower oil. Any ideas on it s there is no real ingredient list on it.

The absolute is that NOTHING is tested safe for vaping, and there are conflicting opinions on whether or not vaping oil based products are a 'good idea'. It is a general consensus though that 'food grade' is a very good idea.

Welcome to diy! :)

The "blended with safflower oil" is the part that gives me pause. I don't know how a fatty acid is going to help things. I also have no clue why a mint oil with menthol even needs to be mixed with a cooking oil. Must be some herb store cooking methods I'm unaware of?

Right, I have used mint oils and haven't had any issues. I've read posts saying that all oils are bad. I think folks are confusing fatty acid type oils with mint oils myself, but as BB said, there are no known "safe" flavorings for vaping. We use food flavorings. We're pretty sure it is better than inhaling burning plant matter, but there is no long term study to say one way or another.

That said, I would not use any cooking or petro oils in my mixes.

OK got it settled. Bought a sample pack from the apprentice, clove, red bull.. rebel pack. Red Bull is awesome. Menthol is tough and have to go easy on it. Also got the nic juice from wizardlabs 70/30 48mg. And the vg. I mix half and half, almost, to get to around just over 24mg then add a bit of flavor, presto. Not real scientific about my approach in mixing.

The organic food store had peppermint oil in the baking section. Organic grain alcohol, water and peppermint, that is all. It is strong and tastes nice mixed properly. About as safe as any I guess.

In the old days we had mint growing wild in the back yard. When times got tough it dried and rolled nicely for a smoke.
Peace
