Great day to all my fellow vapers and vapets. I have been doing my own juice mixing for a few years now. Well adding flavor to a VG and PG base mix anyway. I have decided I would like to try mixing with VG only with the nicotine and flavor. I use milk chocolate flavoring. My question to the long time mixers is without using PG is there a need to use distilled water and is more flavoring needed? I know some say add vodka but were I live that is not a option that is easy. I am open for all good mixers.

Both of these are subjective questions the answers to which will depend on your setup and your taste. DW or alcohol is used to thin the mix if it's too viscous to wick properly. Flavor is literally a matter of taste, but it's easy to add more. You will find the max-VG liquid to be much milder on the inhale.

you'd get more help from the diy section :) (I asked a mod to move it)
to help dilute vg you can use a few drops of distilled water...this is only needed if the mix is too thick for your wick/coil....
also if you are strictly wanting to do vg only you will need to make sure that your nic and flavorings then are in vg, otherwise it'll still have some pg in it but you can make it like 90%vg

is more flavoring needed
Depends on the manufacturer of the PG free flavor and the flavor itself. Some coffees, mints etc are fine under 1% and other flavors have to be adjusted upwards. Some RDA builds can wick VG only without any thinner component.
If you are PG sensitive, there is a wealth of PG free information scattered over the internet, wish I could direct you to a single site.

I use VG only, but MTL with no real chain vaping. I don't think there's a need to add DW with most setups, but you need to be aware that it's much more viscous, and will wick more slowly. So if you are a chain vaping, high wattage, cloud chucking DL vapor, you'll definitely want to give it a rest between hits to allow the wick to keep up.

When I started VG only, I added water at first, and didn't care for it. Found that with my style, it just wasn't necessary. It's often stated that PG is a better flavor carrier, but taste is so subjective. You may find you'll enjoy it more by increasing flavor percentage.

But I'd start without adding anything, and adjust with water or flavoring only if necessary - keep it simple.

I was a VG veteran for a long time (I am PG sensitive so I can only tolerate about 10% which I reserve for my flavors. With high VG, I did notice a difference flavor wise, not just wicking wise when I added some. IDK if because it was wicking better the flavor was better or what. I'd say if you want to try adding DW I'd start with a few drops in your tan, not in the overall mix.

I have since started using PEG400 in my mixes (PG variant, and also a flavor carrier. It made a huge difference to my mixes. It wasn't that they were oh so much more flavorful, but they seem to be less "muddy" is the term that I want to use.

I believe PEG400 is more viscous than PG, if you are looking for viscosity but don't quite me on that. I did my big "is this safe" search when I first started using it. I did not find alarming things but if you become interested, well, it may be worth a try. I would do your own search though. Nicotine River caries it (dirt cheap) actually.

For my RTA's, not using some H2O in a 100% VG Mix would be a One Way Ticket to Dry Hitsville.

It also, to Me, doesn't Taste as good as when I add some Water.

Good afternoon Shadav. Yes you are probably correct about posting in DIY. Most everyone here does there best as for trying to help out with any questions. I'm a newbie as far as knowing the best way to post and wording so everyone has at least a chance of understanding what this old Texan is trying to ask.
With this said most of my thoughts are about how well the flavoring will come through with only VG. I do believe that my flavoring is PG base but with only using 4% of that it's pretty low. When I first started mixing a few years ago I just thought if you added more flavoring it would just have to be better tasting the more you use. Boy did I use up a lot of base mix trying to fix that one. And of course I did not understand about this steeping business, burned out two ultrasonic cleaners trying fix my mistakes. HAHA Since then I have started making my own coils. That I really enjoy doing now gives a old poop like me something to do besides just watching the tube and shipping for little things to put into the coil building tool box. After starting the new hobby I'm quite sure that I'm not saving any money. But in better health anyway. Vape on, and thanks for the time I just wasted of yours.

na no waste of time

lol yes that's one thing that everyone told me, with diy less is more.... I've finally got most of my flavorings down to 10 - 15% and I don't use sweetener as it gunks up coils quickly
I personally have never noticed any difference in flavor based on pg/vg levels....but I know that most do swear that higher vg isn't as flavorful.... to each their own....
