4 GGTS Bases + 2 MKB's here, and never needed to chase any threads on the atty connection, just smooth thread'n. I do however note differences in the extension tube threading between my two MKB's (one serialized, one not) which for some reason only show up when I try to combine with genuince GG parts.

Here's the pic of the EHPro's (Tobeco) DHX-TS collector tank threads, and AFC holes... Like I said, it's not on par with the RH MKB-TS for certain...

Hi all
After reading most of the thread I have some questions and all help is more than welcome .

I just got a MBK-TS from Germany , it's weirdly called Smyrna 1 (as in RNA not quite a clone joke?) (Sounds like Kryton trying to call Rimmer a smeghead when spoken) .

Anyhoo :
The floating pin , is it meant to be pushed down to match the TS+volt pin on the Hercules (then the battery spring ensures all connections are "snugged-up") ?

The mod also seems suited to 18500 batteries , 650 leaves a gap on the outside and a 350 leaves a large gap on the inside (on mine I think I will have to try winding out the base cap spring to even reach the 350?) ?

Sorry , if that is not very clear , and more thanks for those than can make sense of it ! :)

I'm no expert by any means but your theory on the floating pin is correct I believe.. The 650 battery gap.. On the outside tubes? That's just cuz it's a telescoping mod. I haven't tried 350 in it but I will later once I'm off work sorry for the lack of expertise :)

I got it now !
You would shorten the pin and do the spring housing to ensure a 650 fits without external gap .
Not bothered about 350 cells as the mod doesn't go smaller without extra cash being spent !

That may work... One question though.. What led you to purchase the MKB-TS? Many of us here run Terminator C's and Hercules without using the 510 bases on them. The Hercules for example will thread right into where the gold top was without using the 510 connector base at all. The 510 base on the Term C can be replaced with the GG Oddy to GGTS base. If we cut our firing pins on the MKB, the pin wouldn't be long enough to make the connection to those attys.

I'm just wondering since you like no gaps, why a telescopic mod, and not something with separate tubes in 18350, 18500, and 18650 size? Not that there's anything wrong with your modding plans, I'm just curious. :)

Do keep in mind that I am still learning about all this stuff, so I may have made a mistake along the way .

I am using the Hercules without the 510 , when I screw the herc in the pos pin goes so far into the collector tank that it (pos pin)pushes it into the mod, extending into the battery compartment .
This extra pin in there (bat comp) and the coils of the spring closing at the bottom cap look to be enough to equal the telescoping needed to fit a 650.
So I thought I would just mod it to close shut with a 650.

The MBK TS is the only mod I have seen that has: the GG TS style connector, Rainbow Heaven quality of machining; a price that I can afford.

I was thinking about using it with smaller cells, but with the size of the collector tank and the bottom cap post&spring, I don't think it would go much smaller than it is in 650 mode. So I decided that 650 is the way forward, especially with dual coil.

Hope that makes sense, and as I say , I may have made mistakes in my plan.

Hmm I'm Interested in this as well lol.. At first I thought the external gap was weird but with the herc I'm loving the look, feel, and quality of this set up :)

Just ordered a kayfun lite for my other mechs...

I gotta get back into grannies too because I feel like I've betrayed them.. Especially with all the money I spent on them ;)

Good enough explanation for me :p

You're doing fine... :) I'm just used to the telescopic design having owned a couple of GGTS's before, and never attempted to be rid of the gap. I also have been using the Vochu Kayfun conversion kit in the Term C more than anything, and it positions the firing pin almost flush against the collector tank... Yes, as my friends across the pond would say, the RH MKB-TS is a cracking good bit of kit for the dosh.. :)

Cheers Technonut and DwCraig :)

I was contemplating grinding a couple of turns off the thread in the bottom cap post, try and let the spring compress into the bottom post.
Though I got the idea from you DW !?

Cheers too McBender, I nearly missed you there at the top of the page!
Trying hard to make my posts clear, not a natural thing for a motor mouth like me! :p

Oomee.. I messed around some yesterday trying to see how small I could go with no gap using an 18350 and the stealth cap to help you out.. Well, I made the mistake of using the EHPro DHX-TS in attempting this, and the threading is so rough, the telescope got stuck hard, and it was awhile before I was able to get it to come back out. I seriously want to just throw that mod out the window. I have lubed the threads, and cleaned it up the best I can. Now, the connector base of the collector tank is stuck on it.. I need to find a solid rod or shank-end of a drill bit to fit the hole in the side to break it free.

It's not your fault at all.. The Tobeco DHX-TS is just a POS IMO.. It looks almost identical to the MKB, but that's where it ends. I was pondering the possibility that maybe since the bottom tube threading is different than the MKB, that perhaps the bottom threads of the GGTS telescope may fit.

Anyone have a GG Stealth rethreader to let me borrow to find out? ;)

Hehe that's quite a pickle that "Together Best" have dropped you in there Techno !

I saw the stealth cap and whilst it is an option , I have blown the budget with a herc , mbkts and a litre of nic concentrate .
Won't be buying anything for a while now , but I can be found vaping in the concrete bunker awaiting the UK govt to pull the rug out from under us !

Will be building up the Herc tonight when all is quiet , looking forward to it soooo much :)
