Hi there.

Over the past year I've gone through 2 Kangertech Kbox 160. The issue is that the micro USB port breaks. Are there any decent mod boxes out there with a more robust USB charging input? I do have a few spare batteries and separate battery charger but it's not convenient to be carry extras about when I could just charge the box straight from my laptop.

Thanks for your input.

Those connectors only work ~300 times or something. Same thing for cell phones. It was designed that way. An external charger works quite well too.

I have a Sigelei spark that has no USB charge port anymore, and I still use it in combo with the external charger. I wouldn't worry about it much, I'm sure some standards commission will come up with something better in the next 10 years.

Howdy and Welcome to ECF!
Like everyone I have an opinion. Here it is! I have been vaping since 2012 and I have felt the USB charging was an inefficient way to charge batteries and shortened the life of batteries. And it takes forever to charge.

Thanks for your input! I do often use the battery charger but if I'm needing to travel at short notice then I like to go light. At least the USB charging means that I can have my laptop in front of me and I can still be vaping at the same time.

They make USB cables with magnetic inserts that stay in the port and they connect to the cable magnetically.

A lot cheaper than buying new mods. And work well.

I'm not a fan of USB charging and I just ordered on of the above, mainly because I don't want my radius burning out when this is available and it's recommended to charge via USB. I don't care how "robust" an USB charger is, there is a limitation on the number of times you can use it before it becomes wonky. Seems like an easy fix to me, thanks for the link.

Otherwise, I use an external charger as 1) the USB issue and 2) I vastly prefer swapping out batteries than waiting for them to charge. But, I also think this is a great recommendation for the OP, if charging on the go is sometimes required. I don't have a ton of internal battery mods, but the ones I do have, I like, so this makes sense as a purchase, I think.

Oh sheesh, it was 4 bucks! LOL. This is an ANTI-shinyitis purchase if it prolongs the life of my mods. Tell me a mod I can buy for 4 bucks and I'll PROBABLY say I don't want it (at least not more than the cost of buying a new to me radius... LOL.)

Famous last words . With that said, if there's a radius quality mod out there, tell me tell me! I'll buy a bunch! :)

I was just being a pest. I'll order some of those also, probably about 6 of them. Cell phone, bike lights and mods would all be interchangeable with the laptop and the USB hub on my desk and in the truck. Maybe one more for the USB charging station on my alarm clock. That will leave room for a couple backups.

Welcome and glad you joined.
USB works for my Istick 40w since 9/15, and still using now. Hang in there and you might try another manufacturer if Kanger does not recommend charging via USB.
