Mod design I would like to see.

I would like to see a specialized carto tank / 3.7v tube mod where the tank is built into the device with the goal being to be is small and pocketable as possible. Ideally the top cap of the mod would also be the bottom cap of the tank so the whole thing would be one continuous tube.

While it would be a specialized device (only work with cartos) it could be a very small, very solid device that would be resistant to coming apart or being damaged when stuffed into a pocket. Would look pretty cool too.

If I had any idea how to go about it I would do it myself, unfortunately I don't.

Also, have the tank refillable from the side somehow, so you wouldn't have to disassemble it when refilling

Ah so close, yet so far. In form that is exactly what I'm talking about, but I have no interest in custom atomizer based systems. Take the same idea and make a carto tank mod, and make it smaller, that Zenesis looks pretty hefty, although that may just be the picture. But that is in fact what I'm talking about, only using carto tank design.

I too like small, pocketable, and tank based! Here's what I came up with (and while if it was built by someone who knew what they were doing and had skills - IMHO it'd be awesome!):

I went the direction of small and palm sized, thus the side-by-side configuration rather than a long stick just made longer by the tank. To ME, this is the perfect arrangement, battery next to tank, as it's still small but holds a days worth of juice.

A commercial mod along these lines, though not a tank, would be the VMod, it's a bottomfeeder so you can use cartos/attys and have the benefit of on board juice supply. Personally, I'm not crazy about the size of the VMod XL because by the time you add carto/atty and tip it's >5". My 18500 version is less than 3" (3-1/2" with standard tip) tall x >2" wide x 1" thick. For me it's a very concealable size, both in hand and in pocket!

If there's other commercially available mods like this or the VMod, I'd love to hear about 'em! (The ultimo is pocket friendly but pretty weak on voltage and has no juice resevoir).

That is indeed an elegant solution to reducing the size of a carto-tank/mod combo. I love it. Now you got me thinking about trying to make something, just finding the parts is really my biggest issue. I can see putting together one in a small leather backgammon dice cup. Since I'm a semi-pro bg player that would be too cool. Although I might have trouble finding a cup small enough.

I love carto tanks, in terms of capacity, reliability, low maintenance they are nearly impossible to beat. But they tend to look like some ungainly monster hanging way out in front of whatever they are attached to. My Infinity Pro with tank looks like a mallet to play a xylophone or something.

If you look at the 18500 version I did (the wood one) it could quite easily be wrapped in leather. Heck the top & bottom pieces could as well, though would require some sewing abilities (I should ask my wife... Naw, she hated me smoking and dislikes me vaping, doubt she'd help with a pv ).

Anyway, I designed it for maximum flexibility. The button is easily replaceable (so I can match it to the middle part), and I made different length middles for different battery (and therefore tank/carto) lengths.

It'd look awesome if the endcaps were black metal (mine is mostly plastic because the only tool I have is a dremel) and the middle was leather wrapped!

The parts can be had pretty easily! you'll need a connector (510 is most common) and if you just want 3.7v, that's about all that is not available locally.

Every time I think of building a mod the hangup for me is how to make it open/closeable. I can't do threaded pipe (never found the correct length and I can cut/tap/die it without tools!) and magnets make me somewhat nervous as I don't want to have it fall apart as I'm removing it from my pocket (not to mention magnets near credit cards is a no-no!). The solution I came up with uses "bullet splices", electrical connectors designed to be press-fit together and pulled apart. I used one on each side for 2 reasons, to make SURE it was a good hold (and it is, it's almost TOO firm!) and the carry the positive AND negative current from top to bottom (and vice versa). This way if I want to add an LED to the top, middle, or bottom, no problem power is running there already!

To me, the perfect mod shape is one that fits nicely into your hand, and doesn't extend past it any more than necessary. A couple years ago I design some mods that were shaped like pistol grips, but my lack of skills and tools, coupled with my lazyness, was too hard to overcome!

Want the perfectly shaped pv for you? Take a handful of playdough or clay, give it a slight squeeze and there you go! Now just figure out what the build it out of that can approach that shape! (or use epoxy like FastSteel and drill out the interior!)
