I've been experimenting with various cartos for a few weeks now; mostly for when I am out and about as I prefer to DD when at home, but I've quickly discovered that they perform best when regularly topped off, which isn't that far removed from DDing, so I got myself a cheap DCT to see if I like the idea of carto tanks - and I do!

I've punched a few normal dual coil cartos with a nail as well as using the flanged low res carto that came with the tank so that I could trial my favourite flavours at minimal outlay, and I really do like it, but my preferred cartos are boge standard and high res cartos as I can use them at their best on all my devices but these babies are too short for the smoktech/TW DCT. I ultimately am considering purchasing some vapefexion mini ss tanks but they are pricey and I want to make sure this isn't just a passing fad ( once I loved the ego c but that didn't last long ) so I'm considering cutting down the DCT I have and wondered if anybody else had done this and what tool they used (I'm currently waving a junior hacksaw round in a menacing manner)?

If you hacksaw it, use masking tape to make a mark to guide your cut. It can be done this way, but it's easy to go diagonal. At this point the tube is ruined. Dremel ith cut-off wheel will work, also. Once again, use a guide line. Cut slowly, so as to be able to correct if you go astray from the line. Good luck!

The TW tanks are polypropylene, so a little more pliable than polycarbonate. A pipe cutter may work, but you have to go slow tightening it down so you don't flatten the tube at all while you're cutting to keep your cut straight. It would be worth a try, make sure your blade is good and sharp

FWIW, the XL size Boges, which are relatively new and so far I've only seen them at a couple of vendors, fit perfectly in those tanks. They're a little short for some other dual coil tanks, but fit the Smoktech ones just right. The mega Fusions from Ikenvape are also a good fit (though the carto is very tight in the caps with those). I've been using both of those in the TW tanks with no trouble and no modding necessary :)

Ah, I hadn't noticed you were in the UK. You can order the XL Boges in bulk from a couple of the Chinese suppliers (maybe find some other UK-ers to organize a co-op purchase with). I'd say they're well worth it, they perform just the same as the regular ones, only they're a little bit longer (about 5mm shorter than an XL dual coil, the same length as the TW tanks) and hold just a tad more juice. There is also an XXL size for them that so far I've only seen from the China suppliers, which is the same length as an XL dual coil so will fit any of the longer tanks. I haven't tried those, but I assume they'll perform the same as the others :)

Pipe cutter will only work if you have something rigid inside the tube.

Just wanted to update, my Vaperfexion tank arrived today so I decided to get busy with the TW DCT as I could now afford to lose it if it all went horribly wrong, the pipe cutter with a peice of dowel worked an absolute treat, I now have a very slightly smaller tank (only by about 6mm or so) that now fits all my Boge Cartos too, so I'm not limited to just the TW branded dual coils which sadly are not only vastly more expensive than Boge, but not really what I'm looking for in my everyday vape :D

So I wanted to say thanks again for the suggestion :D
