If this subject has been covered before I apologize in advance.

Whilst watching review of the RSST and AC9 i noticed they both use tension springs on the positive post to hold the wire in place. I personally find this quite appealing considering the fact i have dinner plates for hands.
It got me thinking: Could this be done on my Aga-t and steam turbine clone? I would assume yes but my real question would be where to find such springs and what sort to get. Also, could this be done on the negative screws as well?
Any ideas, links, or walk throughs would be most welcome.

I couldn't say about the Steam Turbine, @Sctosman6783, but I did try out a spring on the centre post of my Aga-T2.

It does work, but after a couple of builds, I went back to using the nuts. I can't recall the sordid details, but I think I probably had more confidence in the nuts trapping the wire; with the Aga, the whole assembly is apt to drift and loosen up over time, particularly if you're using it out & about. I'm thinking the spring probably let go of the wire once too often.

Hmm, thats intesesting.
The steam turbine has two washers that sit on the pos. post. Looks like a small spring could be trimmed to fit there. My thought was that after capturing the wire with the spring the screw in top of the center post could be tightened a bit to put more tension on the spring. I was thinking if i added some small washers to the aga-t it might function similarly. Maybe the combination of washers with the spring may work out.
I tend to not take my rebuildables out and about with me just yet as i am still realatively new to the skill.
Thanks for the info remnant.

If you put a small spring below two washers for the positive part and a spring above two washers for a longer negative screw, you can simply trap the wire between the washers just by pulling it between them. Mcmaster has small ss springs and Ace hardware has tiny ss washers would you not want to get them from McMaster.

Templeman co. has various sizes (small) compression springs... may be more than you want though.

McMaster/Carr has a 12-Piece Music Wire Compression Spring Assortment I used a few years ago... check the sizes it should fit what you need.

These may work for what you want to do - the other hardware was from Ace Hardware (tiny little drawers of mini MM screws, etc.)
