So I got this REO (my only) from a great guy, and I love it; but I had to make it mine. I'm so excited about my cosmetic results, I just have to share. (Sorry if this is supposed to be posted elsewhere, I claim ignorance.) Hope y'all like it.

So, I said I'd report back on whether the paint would hold. So I am. It was weak at the sharpish edges. On the flats, I'd say it would have held indefinitely. I didn't use primer, just washed with soap and then cleaned with acetone. Like I said though, I had a back-up plan. Truth be told, the flashy painted look was never me, and those tiny flecks of chipped paint near the door were all the excuse I needed to execute "plan B" (which is "me"). Plan B became plan C halfway through the process, and I'm very happy with the results I have now. Imagine if your grandpa had this, and then passed it down to your uncle, who eventually gave it to you. Most (but not all) the anodized paint would be worn away to shiny bare metal. You'd polish it up and enjoy it's "aged treasure" look; feel how smooth it is from all the years in grampa's woolen pocket. I love it. You all would think its an atrocity.

Anyway, paint didn't hold well enough to recommend. :)
