Mods fascinate me...can you really build them on the cheap?

Let me preface this with saying I'm not going to be building anything anytime soon. While I can wire a house(mine) well enough that a real electrician wanted to hire me, I don't know diddly about electricity, and I sure don't do electronics. DH said he was the only one in school that couldn't get his kit transistor radio to work and he said he sucks at soldering. If he could arc or mig weld something for me, or build it out of wood, he'd be all over it, LOL!

I've seen a few sites that give a parts list of under $20, less if you can scrounge some parts. And some of the flashlight mods just look cool. Is this really doable?

Yep, many folks have done just that. That said however, please do your homework before attempting to follow suite ... there was at least one incident where a person was injured using a homemade mod so you need to be careful. It sounds like you plan to do just that but I don't think this aspect can be stressed enough.

Vape On! :)

You know, there IS a Modder's Forum here on ECF where people show off their creations, right? Tons of great stuff in there. Mech's are relatively simple to make, just a switch, a tube, and a 510 connection. For variable mods, there are ready-made chipsets like the Zmax chip or a dna 20 that already have the buttons on them. Just make sure you add air vents.

This cost me $2.20 to build, two+ years later it's still going strong.

That is so cool! I would love to be able to make one of those. I'm just a little jealous of you all that can do this stuff with confidence. DH and I were talking about how much his dad (a chain smoker who loved to tinker with electronics) would have embraced vaping and especially modding.

I'm still debating whether or not I want to learn about RBAs. I'm one of those people that test "very high" on mechanical aptitude, but doing anything mechanical just aggravates the crap out of me.
