Good afternoon folks.
I was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for an inexpensive, reliable mod kit?
I've been vaping for 2 years now using a typical starter kit and coils but feel i need something a bit different, i know nothing regarding mods and sure, it's easy reading an article about them but would rather much hear peoples real opinions/recommendations on specific mod kits.
I'm looking for something simple, something where i only need to change the coil. I'm not really interested in clouds, just the throat hit, i need to feel the clouds go down :) And something that works well with 50/50 e-liquid 1.8mg nic. Something with a decent battery that will get a heavy vaper through the day. Coils that are reasonable in price and easy to replace. Something under £25 preferably and can be found on eBay preferably as i've got a voucher i can use there.
Sorry for expecting it to be cheap, i'm expecting twins very soon so all the pennies are being saved.
Thanks in advance and apologies if this is the wrong area i posted in.
Adam
Welcome and glad you joined.
I would look into the Kanger Evod Starter Kit. It comes with two mod batteries.
Might want to try the search function in upper right hand corner of this post. Could type in "Evod Starter Kit ".

Hi BrotherBob. Thanks for the welcome! Appreciate it.
I've used that kit in the past, worked well but misplaced it somewhere and replaced it with what i had. However, i've just received my Joyetech eVic VTC Mini 60W and think its fantastic (Thanks @Foggy Road for the recommendation) I also appreciate your time linking those kits, very kind of you. Decided to start vaping unflavoured e-liquid also to prolong my coils, well that's what I've read at least. Guess we'll see :)

Thanks again all for your time and help. Much appreciated! Kind and welcoming folks.

Hey glad to hear you're happy with it. Here's a tip for rewicking those CLR coils If you decide to give that a try. Before trying to pull the old wick out soak the coil in water for a few minutes. If you have a pair of tweezers get hold of the wick and sorta screw it out of the coil as you pull on it. The factory really over packs the cotton in them but those coils are tough. Some folks have been using the same coils for 9++ months. Personally I tear the guts out and rebuild to my specs before I even use them.

9 months!! I like the sound of that, i'm all about saving money, thanks for letting me know. Sounds simple enough.

Hi @Adamwoods

No.1 You are 100% spot on not to trust reviews. Most of the e-cigarette review industry is into fake recommendations designed to siphon your money into their pockets.

No.2 There is a lot of junk out there just waiting to be bought.

No.3 What kind of vaping do you imagine you want to be doing? The best value (and decent) set-up depends on things like battery life, power (watts), type of inhale (mouth to lung/traditional or direct to lung/sub-ohm).

If you go all sub-ohm, you probably won't want to vape 18mg. (1.8% is known in the UK by most people as 18mg b.t.w.)

£25 won't get you very far I'm afraid, but look at it this way.
Cheap kits (£8-20) are not reliable and don't work that great. The battery life is dreadful even for a light vapers.
£25 gets you into Joyetech AIO territory - as much as I like that little tube e-cig, the long-term prospects are not that great.

The Joyetech CLR is easy enough to re-wick, but how are you going to find them in the UK? You're not...mine come from China.

Today, I actually ordered a new Eleaf tank and coils from China. About £9 for both the tank and the 5 coils. You shouldn't be able to buy these now in the UK, and if shops are selling them you'd be looking at £20-30 anyway just for a basic £4 tank. (£4 is what the shops pay).

Anyway... ask away. If you buy on the strength of a review from most e-cigarette 'independent review' websites, you will get the wrong advice.
You do know these are most likely counterfeit ? 9$ for the tank and coils...... Fake so don't expect anything good to come out of those...

Welcome to the site, the Aspire zelos is a very simple starter kit & comes with the nautilus 2. I gave mine to a mate to get him off stinkies otherwise it would of been yours!
The alien 220 kit mentioned is good but the screen is very cluttered an confusing at first, wouldn't recommend it for beginners.
Plus the nautilus 2 is perfect for your 18mg 50/50 juice :)

Well, you are partly right. The tank is 'styled' yes, but the coils are genuine Eleaf.
I've been using them for 18 months so I think we can say something good has come out of them.
I was using it as an example for the O.P. since in the UK you could walk into a shop and pay £12.50 just for coils.

A little out of your price range, but I am in love with the versatility of the ELeaf Pico 75w paired with the soon-to-be discontinued Kanger Subtank Mini.

The tank takes both sub-ohm coils for direct lung vaping and 1.5 ohm coils for mouth-to-lung vaping. It also include a rebuildable coil for those who wrap their own. The mod supports wattage up to 75w with a single 18650 battery and with Nickel or Stainless coils, supports temperature control.

This combo is like having three devices in one. There are other combos that have the same or similar features, bu I haven't found one that does all of this for around $50.00 (battery excluded).

Good suggestion & a very solid mod for the price :)

Can't get simpler than a Joyetech AIO or Joyetech Ego One--- or a VTC Mini or Pico with a nautilus mini tank.

Of course for latter 2, you would need batteries and charger. That will add to your intial costs.

So start off with the AIO in my humble opinion. There are tons of newbie models out there that are great, but rather than give a long list, I'm going for "CHEAPEST" way to get started here. All you need is the AIO, it comes w/2 coils, and buy some ejuice.

If you want all day vaping, buy 2. They are cheap cheap cheap

They are very easy setups but still my favourites an I've vaped for 8 years.
The nautilus mini got me off stinkies, I use a NautilusX now but the mini still holds a place in my heart. I like the pico so much I'm gonna pick up a couple more in case things go too crap!
