I'll join with the weirdness. I was vaping on my usual I-VV3 and took the tank off and threw it on my old Joye Upgrade unregulated ( full charge, 4.2) just to make sure it was still functioning after sitting for a few months.

Wasn't paying attention or expecting to notice anything- but it was like "wow" nice vape....

    Seemed smoother actually.

i already know and understand all that, what i don't know is which devices produce the pulsing i am after

That would be the Sigelei Zmax for one. If it sounds like a rattlesnake, it's low frequency. I can't find a list of PWM mods with 33hz frequency, but most agree that the Chinese mods are in that range. I found one person who stated 37hz for the Vamo.

Your best bet is to take a tank or whatever you like to vape into a B&M store (if there's one close to you) and move it from mod to mod and try it out. If it sounds like a rattlesnake when you hold it to your ear, that's one like you are searching for.

well there is a B&M sorta close to me ,but more of a tobacco store ATP,,all they have for mods is knock off ego and a few mec clones

and very little knowledge of what the hell they are selling either

doesn't the zmax have a RMS & mean option? I thought they did...at least smok tech's. I confirmed my vape-pro with a scope meter (fluke 99b) the two modes produce different signals..

rms at 33.3Hz, mean at a rate I forgot...

that was almost a year ago, but I do remember the mvp had a faster cycling rate than the vape-pro in mean (NEA in menu)..not by much, but noticeable wavelength difference.

The mean setting on the Zmax produces a much different vape at the same power setting than the RMS setting. RMS is much more accurate on a square wave pulse. Mean or average works much better for sine wave outputs. Pulse width and magnitude don't necessarily relate well between square wave and sinusoidal outputs.

I don't know why they offered the mean setting. I'd like to see a scope picture of both.
