The ignorant girl from the tobacco coalition du quebec is an idiot and doesn't know what she's talking about....propylene glycol is not in anti-freeze but used in over the counter laxatives ...she's mistaken by ethylene glycol wich is toxic and is in anti-freeze (dummy)...they rather see teens smoke the real stuff (why) because the goverment is making tons of money on cigarettes and none on ecig loll !!!!!!

rrrrzzzzghhhhhhhrrrrrrrraaaaaANTIFREEZE???? AGAIN?

Of all the....

Breath deep...phooooooooooooo (oh hey I can do that again, nice!)

This antifreeze thing really gets on my teats.

Yea, it's in antifreeze, NON-FRICKIN-TOXIC antifreeze. I know it's just a scare tactic, but for some reason this one single point of all the bad publicity really irks me.

The propylene glycol used in e-liquid, here in the US is USP or U.S. Pharmaceutical grade. It can be found in many very inexpensive imitations flavoring in grocery stores like imitation vanilla extract. This food grade propylene glycol is also used in ice cream, some mouthwashes and bitters as in Angostura Bitters that are found in almost any bar and used to mix drinks.

The industrial grade (non USP) propylene glycol, used in anti-freeze, is indeed very dangerous and quite poisonous. I discovered these facst while researching, using google, before starting the DIY curve. I found that USP propylene glycol is commonly found in Tractor Supply stores and is used, with other medications, by Vets in treating dairy cows for depression associated with calfing. It is put in the food of depressed dairy cows, along with other prescribed medications.

I'm picturing a cow lying on a shrinks couch, talking about how all she does is "give and give, but it's never enough for you people"
It's all very "farsidey".

PS. I think we need to realize that some people are misinformed because they choose not to educate themselves on the subject. Antifreeze or not, kids shouldn't be using ecigs regardless of how much better it is for your health.

Even non-nic ones? These kids aren't using them because they like the fruity tastes, they're using them as a giant F-U to their parents and teachers (using them in class...).

I had quite a bit written up here, twice, but decided that it's probably best to let the people who have children voice up. Alls I know is kids will be kids regardless. This is the same crap we pulled when I was one a couple decades ago.

*and PG antifreeze I'll start calling "less toxic", since you can't drink a cold glass on a hot summer day and expect to feel fine.

Agreed 100%.

The problem is that two different questions get confounded. "How safe are the ingredients in e-cigs?" is not the same thing as "Should children be allowed to vape?"

A great point. At the same time these people should at least do a basic search before providing misleading information to the public. Thing is we do not have any control over this, not us, no "ECTA" or any small group of society will be able to change anything. Look at (OTHER STUFF) although illegal and considered a Street drug, once a year hundreds of thousands celebrate there right to choose, even the masses on Parliament hill with police everywhere openly smoke it. Does this change anything? Is (OTHER STUFF) legalized? NO. And it will not be. Even though the government can authorize its medicinal use....the same will go with ecigs and eliquid. Let's just end the debate and be happy we can actually get our (OTHER STUFF) and will always be able to regardless of government policy. Because really if it is "legalized" or sold in every corner store all our favorite vendors are going to get squashed like bugs and big tobacco and pharmacy will take over. End of story.

If you want to remind yourself of the priorities of these bureaucracies, keep this in mind:

It is not illegal for an underage person to posses tobacco or to smoke
but
it is illegal for an underage person to posses tobacco that has not had the taxes paid on it!

*******************************

It is not illegal for a 13 year old to smoke (actually a very common age to start smoking)
but
it is illegal for them to purchase smoking cessation products until they are 19 years old!

*******************************

Legal to smoke; illegal to stop! Hey, that sounds like what they want to do with our e-cigs!
Follow the money!

Disclaimer: I in no way endorse teen smoking. In fact, I believe (I could be wrong) that the younger a person is when they start, the more it is entrenched in their being and the harder it is to quit.
