more newbie trouble . . . filling carto

Hi all . . . well, I'm totally frustrated, going through nic withdrawal as I haven't been vaping enough, partly because I either hated or am sick of the two flavors of prefilled cartomizers I got with my Volt that I've had since Saturday. (and partly because I am just not doing it enough - figuring out you can't just use it like you used to smoke a cig I guess) New juice arrived today and have been trying to fill my blank XL cartomizers that I ordered with my Volt. I ordered 50/50 flavored juices and have watched numerous videos on how to fill the carts. I have tried one using the "condom" method - it is still sitting in a boot of liquid - it's been an hour and it looks like only about 1/4 of what I put in the boot has been soaked. I think this may be because the boot is too short for the XL - the juice just doesn't reach the fiber possibly. The other one I'm working on I am trying to just drip juice in - did about 5-7 drops and they have just been sitting in a pool on top of the fiber for the last 30 min - nothing is soaking into the fiber.

What a pain. Sorry I'm so grumpy.

I am very new to this forum however i hope i can help. From my past experiences ive had to remove the fibers from the tube entirely. then fill the tube up about 1/2 full .. then carefully put the fibers back into the tube and then drip the top till it pools up. I might be way off here.. Also i know of a mod you can use to change the fibers out that is a fish tank filter fiber

This is how I do a condom (or boot- I like that) fill. I put the liquid in the condom and slide the carto in. Some of the juice seems to soak into the bottom of the fill, and some will go up the center hole and pool up at the top of the carto. I thn slide the carto out of the condom, but not all the way. This seems to vacuum suck that poopled juice into the fill. I put more juice in the condom if necessary, and do this again until it's not taking any more juice. Then I blow out the carto. I'm usually filling 5 or so cartos at a time, so I have a little assembly line. Thn at way they all get to soak some while I'm working on the others.

Another thing you might try is thinning the juice out just a bit with alcohol (vodka or PGA), not much. Thinner juices tend to soak in to the fill better.

I don't think you can easily take the filler out of most cartos. Horizontal coils you can, but not most of the others, afaik.

Do not take the filler ouT, you'll never get it back in. Are you taking both condoms off, or just one?

Take off both condoms. Remove the little end cap where your mouth goes. Fill up a condom a little over half way and slowly push the carto into the condom, mouth piece side down. Once it's all the way in, turn the carto upside down so that the battery side connection is sitting on the table. It should suck up within seconds. If you don't take the condom off both sides, this won't work.

Now, you have Xl cartos so you will need more juice. After it is sucked up, put about 10 drops in a condom and do the same thing. I usually will go from the battery side this time to ensure that the filler is soaked all the way through

After a minute, remove the condom and shake out any juice that pooled on the top of the filler inside the carto. I usually try and pour it back into the juice bottle. You may not have any pooling. Then put the mouth piece side on blow through to get any juice out of the air hole, dab the battery connection with a tissue and you good.

Another way is this:

Fill the condom that has the little nipple that goes up the air hole. Put the carto into it battery side down. Now, while that is soaking up, gently put a toothpick down the airhole from the other side. Don't force it down, just place it in. Now, put about 15 drops of juice into the top. The toothpick will prevent the airhole from getting filled.

Thank you Mroutlaw . . . I did everything you said except turn it upside down and then the repeat from the battery side. I will try that next time. Finally, got them filled using drops -seems all of a sudden they started soaking in, not sure why because the juice just sat there the longest time. But now one is leaking standing on the battery end - overfilled?

Tried again this time turned it back over before pulling out of condom and hardly any juice has been absorbed. It seems these blanks just really don't want to absorb for some reason.

Call customer service in the morning. There may be a problem with the pack. Are any of the prefilled you got with the system Empty? If so, what flavor was it and what flavor juice do you have to refill

Flavors won't mix well - I have another box of blanks to try. Will open those and see - just figured since the blanks aren't blister packed, the "batch" theory might not apply as well, but will try.

Nope, second box not working either. Let me walk through it . . . Opened a box of blanks, took the boot/condom off of both ends of one, filled the boot without the nipple in it about 1/2-3/4 with juice, took the silicon ring out of the cartomizer, put that end slowly in the condom/boot with juice until it reached the bottom, turned the whole thing upside down, let it sit for about 1 minute, turned it over and pulled carto out of boot with juice - most of the juice I put in is still there in the boot. What did make it into the carto is pooled on top, not soaked in.

I went back to the first one I tried turning upside down (about 8:45) and it finally had absorbed - been checking it about every 5 min. I tried to add more drops and it just came out the bottom. They are just reluctant to soak and sure aren't taking a 1/2 condom full.

I have found the easiest way is just to drop juice down the side. A few drops, let it soak, then a few more. For a regular boge carto, about 50-60 drops will fill it. If it is packed and won't absorb, I take a needle and fluff up/ move around the poly till it absorbs. Hope it helps.
