more newbie trouble . . . filling carto

By the way, Mroutlaw you might know this . . . are there any prefilled carts that fit the Volt besides the ones at SI? My cigs cost me $70/week and even the prefilled carts are going to be far less expensive than that - am thinking this might help until I am more comfortable without analogs.

Well the first one I tried today, the Pina colada was so thick it barely slid down the cart wall when I dripped it in so I'm guessing that's pretty thick. My old carts are chocolate and watermelon - don't like the chocolate and so none are empty. The watermelon was okay for awhile but I got really tired of the "tartness of it". I ordered mostly sweet things this time and want to try them without contamination so I know if I like them as they come.

The cotton candy I just got had a teeny tiny cinnamon twang to it (but my smoker's taste buds may be way off) and I like that - it's kind of a creamy cinnamon. May have to look for that. I will say the "feel" of the juice from Vape Dudes is much more like smoking than the prefilled carts I got from SI.

I have found if you lightly tap the bottom of the carto on the desk, High vg juices absorb better.

Ok, now I know what's going on. First, any 808 prefilled will fit but don't give up yet. Some of the other companies are halo g6, smoov and vapor 4 life. V4l has a lot of different Flavors but the cartos themselves stink because they are not horizontal bottom coil.

Now, the juice you are using is very thick and will take a really long time to absorb. Also, high vg will clog your carto quicker. What level nic did you purchase? What do you mean by "feels more like smoking", in what way?

I suggest this, call vapedudes in the morning and ask them fir 70pg/30vg. Tell them you dont like the 50/50 combo. They will replace it. That's what I use and it absorbs quickly and has a nice throat hit. Remember, vg will mask throat hit and flavor. Personally, I have not tried their 50/50, so I can't tell if it's supposed to be that thick, but I know the 70/30 consistency and that it absorbs quickly into the cartos.

Here's a post I just made in another thread concerning filling cartos.

I drop about 5-10 drops on the polyfil until it looks slushy on top. Then I put my finger over the bottom hole (on the threaded end) and blow into the mouthpiece end (without the mouthpiece in the carto). Doing that pressurizes the inside of the carto and forces the juice into the polyfil by way of "capillary action". If any comes out on my finger, I run my finger down the top edge of the carto to get it back into the carto (I try not to waste a drop of my precious nectar), add a few more drops, and pressurize it again. I do that until it just won't take any more.

Takes me about a minute to fill a new carto like that...with complete saturation of the poly fill. Works really well for high VG content juices.

Very interesting. I have a suggestion though. Rather than use your finger, put the condom that has the nipple that goes into the battery hole back on. Then you don't have to get the juice on your finger

I started out doing that, but found that putting the condom on and taking it off took more time (I have butter fingers and seem to fight with getting those condoms off). I rarely end up with much juice on my finger tip, because the capillary action will push the juice in the path of least resistance...which is into the polyfill.


Either way is good though.

You can also thin your juice down with some distilled water. Fill your condom and put 1 or 2 drops of water. This will affect your nic concentration, but it shouldn't be enough to notice. If you put 20 drops of juice in a condo, and 2drops distilled water, it would be a a 10% dilution.

This is just a thought to help get some juice into your carto so we can get you vaping again

Taryn spin also does the trick. Nothing like using natural forces to push fluid into places it doesn't really want to go. When you use methods like Taryn spin or capillary action...you can fit so much more liquid into your cartos.


For Taryn spin, I used a thumb drive case with a lanyard on it. I could fit four cartos into it, and knock 'em out quick.

Will consider a different combination of pg/vg but I have friends that are 100% vg and I decided to start middle of the road (50/50) I said the Vape Dudes juice I got reminded me more of cig smoke because it's a little lighter and more abundant somehow - can see it more and it's easier to inhale and exhale than the prefilled cartos I have been using (they also made me cough and so far not coughing with the Vape Dudes juice). I have ordered juice from 2 other places though and it's just not here yet.

What I found last night was it took forever to get the fibers to start absorbing the juice (like 30-60 min) but once they did, then it kept absorbing and was able to fill them. I imagine the spin will help make that all work better.

Sorry I missed this thread. Key in the vid below when pushing carto into condom of juice is to do it VERY SLOWLY. First fill of a carto is very important.


Here's a cheap tool/ $2.00 for the Taryn Spin. Can also be used for cleaning cartos, and measuring DIY juice. The cone fits perfectly over the carto and into the dispenser:

The spin will help. With high vg, it just takes longer to absorb. Most people who make 100% vg dilute it down with water about 10% to thin it

Yeah, I'll work on the taryn today. But, am actually have very good success with dripping drops in, plugging hole on bottom and blowing - soaking up really fast that way.

I also use XL/ 1.8 ml cartos and 60/ 40 PG/ VG. Push it down and let it sit for a minute so the juice can be absorbed.

What we are trying to do is to soak the juice through the walls of the airway tube into the filler. Not over the top of the filler.

The size doesn't matter as the juice will first fill the bottom of the carto and additional juice will push that juice up to the top of the filler.

If you want to drip into your carto try gently placing a round toothpick in the airway hole to prevent juice from getting in and remove after you've finished.

I probably tried to watch with too much going on around here - when it first appeared over the top I thought he said something about not doing that but then he keeps doing it so I thought he was pushing til it came to the top and then waiting and then doing it again. Well, that's good because mine never came out the top!, but quite a bit did still drip out the bottom. Just filled the rest with drips until it wasn't going in any more.
