'E-cigarette smokers inhale MORE nicotine and toxins than regular smokers': Study finds 'users are unknowingly inhaling' a host of dangerous chemicals | Mail Online

Yet again the Daily Heil prints a load of utter garbage about e-cigs...what is heartening however is how all the popular comments are telling them they are talking complete cobblers.

I feel a letter to Private Eye coming on, asking them if the Heil have any connections to BAT or Big Pharma. And what is a massive giveaway, the only other mention of this "report" can be found here: Dental researchers examine hidden health impact of electronic cigarettes where the study is announced as having been launched - not completed.

You really cant trust anything you read in that paper (or many others). I think in exchange for freedom of the press, there should be some kind of responsibility from the media to at least try and offer balanced social commentary on the issues they report on.

When you read the article the word 'may' is used a lot. Yes, ecigs 'may' involve inhaling more toxins than when smoking a cigarette, but breathing 'may' also involve inhaling more toxins than smoking a cigarette. I wouldnt mind them printing this stuff if people knew it was a load of garbage, but sadly there are many people who will actually believe it, along with the rest of the crap they print.

This is being repeated on quite a few sites and blogs guess big pharma and tobacco arre getting very worrried and feel this is the best response. End of the day the ignorants and fanatics will carry on as before and sensible people will look more closely and see this sort of stuff for what it is and more and more people i know no longer accept this bilge as they once did becuase they now all know about me and my big shiny rod :). All we have to do is be open to the curious and politely state our case and the wheel will turn since i stated vaping over a year ago i've only met one perrson completely unprepared to listen most are curious and when given some resources to look for themselves support ecigs.

This is a particularly bad article. It's been out for about a week now so it's been discussed before. I wrote to the Assistant Dean of Communications and Public Affairs at NYU (she wrote the original press release about the research discussed in this article). She confirmed that the research has not yet been done. It appears the Daily Mail author took that press release announcement of future research (and the authors uninformed _opinions_ that ecigs could be more dangerous, which flies in the face of other current research) and either misunderstood or twisted it to make it sound like the research had been done. It's truly reprehensible.

I, and a lot of other people also wrote to the PCC to complain about the article, and I got an email yesterday letting me know that they are looking into it and that there had been more complaints. Hopefully they will get their butts in gear and get it retracted. Although at this point the article has been out for a week, and it's been picked up by other outlets over the world, so the damage has been done. If they do a tiny retraction buried in the paper or online, most people will never see it.

For those outside the UK who are not aware of the daily mail it's a hate rag pure and simple most of what it publishes is total ignorant rubbish but it has a die hard following of equally ignorant bigoted people it is not taken seriously by the vast majority of people. You think this article is bad wait till they get onto immigration it'll blow your mind how much rubbish can be fitted into a couple of pages.

But strangely (at least here in the US) Chantix, with a certified body count, is A-OK.

Yesterday evening, my last remaining smoker cousin was opining about the Horrible Dangers of E-Cigarettes which he Read Somewhere Or Another. I just kept eyeballing his burning, four thousand chemical cigarette (and staying carefully upwind) while toking on my three known chemical e-cig--and I understand the chemicals in my e-cig well enough not to fear them particularly.

Mind you, we DO need long-term studies on the e-cig. But when none of my doctors have any issues or concerns with me using this instead of smoking, I'm disinclined to worry.

A state-backed hate rag

What is sad about this is I know for fact alot of older people who are not so technologically inclined rely on the likes of these papers and the bbc to keep up with current affairs and swallow all the tripe they put to press (my grandmother amongst them who is approaching 90 and still smokes menthols) so when they say nonsense like this they actually believe it hook line and sinker

Yup. I met a 55 yr old 40-a-day smoker two days ago. He is passionate about telling people NOT to vape since he read this article.

He told me my 3ml tank would be more nicotine than he smokes in a day, therefore I was taking "unnecessary risks" with my health.

Just goes to show.
