Well, up until today the first thing I normally do is roll an analog and step outside. Yesterday was the first day I ate dinner and did not smoke an analog at all afterwards. From around 5pm to 1 am I had NO analog! I was soooo excited. This morning I haven't yet had my morning stinkyness. But I am craving it even tho I had/am having my nic fix. How does/did everyone that wanted to convert to PVs deal with your morning cravings?
I know this should have been in the "quitting" section but there was nobody in there and I really needed some advice on the quick.

For me the morning cigarette was definitely the most difficult to give up. I think because your body has not had an influx of nicotine for many hours and having a cigarette provides instant relief. Maybe get a slightly stronger juice (higher nicotine content) and use it just in the morning. Get up, and vape it like a “madman”. Just try not to have a morning cigarette for one day; get up and vape like crazy until the urge passes. After one day, then try for two days, and so on…..

I had made a commitment to quit smoking Oct 23 last year. I was a heavy pipe smoker, (yes I inhaled), what would be the point if you didn't? I started out with the gum and the next day, I came across the ecig. I ordered a pipe:cool: from UK which was held up, so then ordered the ecigar. Smoked cigars for many years after giving up cigs. At any rate once I received the ecigar, I had not been smoking for 10 days or so.. 45 years of heavy smoking and I have never wanted to go back. It might be because I vape the higher nicotine tobacco flavors, which I have just recently started mixing down. I'm not sure but hang in there! Try some high test for awhile.

One thing that helps me with my hard to replace analog habits is vaping a flavor that is as close to a cig as possible. I have a mild tobacco (September Wolves from Cignot) flavor that I use for the morning and for after meals. It's no different from my other flavors in strength so I guess it's a mental thing. Then I vape a mint to clear my palate! Heh!

What helped me in the mornings was having a higher nicotine level and lots of vapor. The lots of vapor gave me throat hit and actually felt better than smoking so I craved my PV instead of an analog in the morning (which I still do :) )

I use a DSE901. A fresh atomizer with a fresh battery in the morning and I'm ready to roll and don't even think once about an analog. I'm over 6 months now and smoked 1 1/2 packs for 30 years. The amount of vapor (need lots) is really the important thing for me.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I think I will need a high nic content and lots of vapor for the mornings. I still havent had one, but am craving it like mad so I just keep puffing on my buttered rum  You have kind of confirmed what I was thinking I should do which is get the higher nic tobacco flavored and use a fresh cart for mornings.

So Im thinking I should dedicate a couple of carts for morning vape and use those for just mornings. I dont think I could use an absolute fresh one each morning but dedicating should be close to the same.

Thepuck, what tobacco juice do you use? I was thinking about ordering some TV tobacco for mornings.

I too have not been able to give up my morning analogs. I have been vaping since October and have not been able to give the analogs up. I can go the entire day without them and chain vape 24mg.

Going to a mod has helped during the day with those cravings, but not the mornings.

I don't beat myself up about it, I just keep trying as I know that one of these days it will happen. And if it doesn't at least I'm not smoking 30 or 40 analogs a day any longer.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned so far - I direct inhale more in the mornings.

Maybe I've got a not-very-sensitive throat, but I like to take a long draw with the corner of my mouth open to the air so the vape + air go straight to the lungs. When I feel a good throat tingle, I hold my breath for a few seconds (to prevent from coughing) and then exhale slow.

I do this when I'm drinking too and it really helps when I feel I need something harsh like a cigarette. In fact, it's even harsher - but waaaaaay tastier. I do this with Atomic Cinnacide (90%PG, 10%VG) and it can't be beat.

Might be too much for many, but it's an idea. Cheers, and happy vaping!

1 year and 3 months into vaping and I still smoke my morning analog. No amount of vaping in the morning really works for me. I use 36mg liquid and I feel nothing from it first thing in the morning. This is the reason I have been saying that we actually get VERY LITTLE nic from vaping. I think we get just enough that we dont go crazy but not enough to bring up our nic level in the morning after it has depleted from hours of not smoking over night. After my morning smoke I vape the rest of the day and I am fine.

I always had my first cig in the car on the way to work. After a few days of vaping I decided to make the trip with only a PV. I made it, but the first week or two switching to vaping still required more will-power during the commute than any other time. My take on it is that in most situations vaping will be a near perfect substitue, but there will still be some that you'll need to add a little grim determination to get through. Start keeping track of days (or even just particular situations) where you vaped instead of smoked. You'll find that as you start to compile a winning streak, you'll be less and less tempted to break it.

Good luck!
