When do you know when it is time to stop buying analogs?

I have been vaping almost 4 weeks now. I am using a JoyeEg0 510 and I am more than happy with it even though I do have my eyes on a mod - maybe for XMas.

While I have cut my analogs down to about 3 - 5 a day and a couple of days only 2 or 3 I have not quit them totally yet. This does not bother me, but with what happened this morning I am thinking it is just time to quit them.

This morning I woke up and did not have an analog in the house. One of the hardest ones for me to pass up is just one in the morning and after meals of course. The rest of the day I am fine, but this morning with not one in the house I had the strongest cravings to date. I could not get it out of my mind, but I also refused to go up to the store to buy a pack - so I paced a lot and vaped a lot (heavy on the 30mg this morning - my normal vape is 24mg and 18mg during the day, but the 30mg is for those hard cravings)...

About 10am I had to go across town and needed to stop for gas - Yep bought a pack of smokes, but when I got back in the car I tossed them in the glove box. My craving was suddenly gone.

Yes, I did eventually smoke one about 2 hours later and another a few hours after that, but if I did not buy that pack the cravings were driving me crazy - two I smoked was one after lunch and another just for no reason.

Now I know this is just mental at this point and I believe it means I could totally quit at this point - I mean I threw the pack in the glove box unopened and the craving went away..., but it was terrible up to this point.

Any ideas???

Another rhetorical question that is actually a story :)

Doesn't matter when you stop buying them. Just stop smokin em. :) Keep buying the damn, things- it seems to satisfy your cravings.

That was a smart ... remark. Now the serious answer: Others will say, you will know when you're ready. I say, how bout now? Just do it.

It's NOT easy. BUt if you want to, you can get ready. The craving will come. Vape. It won't go away. Vape harder. You will still crave. Keep vaping. You CAN vape the cravings away. It's just that the ecig hits a lot slower. If you stay at it, it's not too hard to win.

I used to think of it like eating. When you're really hungry, the hunger doesn't go away the moment you start eating. YOu eat slowly, but for a while, until you're full.

Vape slowly, but draw deep. Let it hit, then do it again. Take your time. It will work.

Best,
Ande

PS- This is assuming that you don't want to be a usually vaper, one cig a day smoker, or something like that. Nothing wrong with it if you do. But if you want the cigs out of your life, you're holding a powerful tool to get there. It can really work- just use it and don't stop.

I think it's different for everyone. I also had about a carton and a half when I got my first ecig. I had smoked over 40 years and about 2 1/2 packs a day. I had an exaust fan in my home office to use when the weather was to bad to go outside.I kept cigaretts in my work truck and in the office. I vaped anywhere and everywhere, still do. I tried one every once in a while thinking I had to have one. Pretty soon I did not like the taste or the smell and just didn't want one anymore. I ended up giving them to a maint. man where I was on a service call at. Also a good friend that I converted, still has a carton in his freezer and a open pack on his coffee table, for over a year and a half. He said it felt better just knowing he had them if he needed them. But he can't stand over one puff if he tries.Anyone visiting him that asks, he'll give them a pack.

I had a hard time letting go of my 'security cigs' too. I bought my first e-cig kit in June and just cut back on smoking gradually, until September when I quit analogs for good. For me, I realized that I just didn't need them anymore. I had to vape more in the beginning to get that nic flowing so I wouldn't give in to the temptation to buy a pack, but now I vape a little less and don't miss nasty analogs at all. I agree with the person who said you might need to up your nic dosage. OR if you're already using a high dose, I'd suggest an upgrade to a mega dual coil cartomizer instead of the cartridges. You get a WAY better high with that than you do with the little 510 cartridges. And they're so cheap ($2-3), you'd be crazy not to try it! :)

Well, at this stage of the game I am certainly no giver of advice since I am still clinging to my few analogs too. I got my Tornado the beginning of August this year, so almost 3 months ago. Almost everything I read in the forums before I got it was positive, as in: "I took my first vape and that was the end of cigarettes!" I WISH that applied to me! It made me feel like some kind of reject because although I went from 2+ packs a day to maybe a 1/2 of a pack with no effort, that's where it stayed. When I started searching for those in the same boat, I did come across others, and that was a odd kind of relief, it made me feel there was still hope, but those damn analogs have a strong hold on me. One day I could cut back to just a few, but the following day the cravings were horrible and I'd give in. I know quitting analogs is going to take some effort on my part, but I just haven't been able to talk myself into it yet. I did have a small epiphany today though... for the first time ever I did not have that wake up cigarette, one of my big ones! It was a good feeling, and I vaped instead. Every other time I tried, I would still end up smoking too. I know it sounds silly, but it was a real lift to accomplish that small feat after having done it virtually every day for 40 years. I think a big contributing factor was I cobbled together a juice that I really enjoyed, just drips and drops from the bottom of a few bottles and kinda weird but satisfying, but I'll never be able to duplicate it! *sob* I think if we weren't so broke and I had a few dollars to send for some liquids it would be great because I need to find that satisfying vape or 2 or 3 that can seduce me away from the analogs. Up to now that chance mix was really the only one that I craved... and it is almost gone :( I can't even trade, because I have nothing to offer, LOL, how pathetic am I? Anyway,my point is, (I think) that because of that little success today, I feel a disproportionately large shift in attitude... from I don't know if I can ever make the switch, to... it's just a matter of time and the right combination of stuff. I can't plan it out, it makes me anxious and then I smoke more instead. But if I just go for it and have a small success, it gives me the courage to try another. (Why do I have to play head games with myself... it's so nutso!) Anyhow, the experience is different for each of us, and we each decide our goals. The important thing to remember is that every cigarette you don't smoke is a little victory, be proud of that! We will eventually get to where we need to be, and in our own time. Just keep on keepin' on! Good luck!

Don't feel bad just keep moving forward. I, too, mixed in some analogs with my vaping...And really, after a week or so, I was completely done with the analogs. It takes different people different time to quit. The key is realizing that in you're in this thing to STOP SMOKING. I only vape when I want to smoke. And because I can hit it just once or twice ALL DAY LONG, I've noticed that I haven't really had any "cravings." And I smoked for about 27 years, a pack and a half at least a day. So...I'm a hardened veteran. And it's, (vaping), worked great for me but I AM TRYING TO QUIT. If you like to smoke and "enjoy" it, you're not going to be able to quit. Good luck.

Thanks for all the great replies. I was not trying to just post a story. I was frustrated and caught a little off guard so I posted to see if it was normal or not. There are a lot of experiences on this forum and a lot of good people posting here also. I really do appreciate the replies.

We are preparing for a trip next month to visit the relatives for the holidays - none of them smoke and I do not like going outside in the cold so I am going to try and leave them at home. I just have to make sure I carry a large enough supply of juice with me so as not to run out while we are gone. My wife's brother has already said that I can vape in his work shop, which is connected to the house - he never let me smoke in there (lol)...

I'll buy that. Now for the non-smartass response...

I don't appreciate newbies who want people to read their stories so badly that make their post's title a question. Especially when it is likely they already know the answer to the question. Like others in this forum, we try to respond to as many posts as our time permits. I have no desire to be tricked into reading someone's post.

Like I was just tricked into reading yours thinking it was on-topic?
Last time I checked, he can post whatever he wants. This is a forum. That's what people do. It's not the end of the world, dude. lol

I made the original post even though I was not trying to be rhetorical or anything of the nature. I was asking what I felt was a serious question and knew the good people here would give good responses, BUT

for now can we Please Stop - I do not want to be the cause of people bickering - it is too stressful for our health - probably as bad as smoking.

It is obvious wdave is a supporter of this forum since he has over 1,400 posts and I promise I will be more careful in my future post - not only what I post, but also how I word it... Life is short enough already - we do not need to make it shorter...

I stopped the day I got my eGo. ( Had bought 2 packs the day before I got my kit) I even tried to return the extra pack of smokes I bought. Too bad the lady behind the counter just looked at me funny and said " Its just a pack, smoke it". That added the fuel to my quitting fire. Never got that 8 dollars back, and 2 days after getting my eGo quit smokes completely.
