Hello all, new to the forum but not to the game. I build wood box mods, and have gotten along just fine until recently I had a few people ask for mosfets to be installed. Im using the irlb3034pbf with a 15k resistor bridging Source and gate..

When tested with a multi meter it shows I get 4.2v to center pin of 510 but when an.atty.is installed it barely fires and the mosfet/resistor heat up. I have tried this with different 510s, switches, and have tried burned through 5 mosfets and resistors. Anyone who can give me any advice would be my saviour

post a pic of how you wired it and the diagram you have used will speed things up.

I bread boarded it, and still had the same results

Isnt that suppose to fire from the negative pole?

Look at your diagram again. The negative from the battery sled runs through the mosfet, to the off/on switch. You have it backwards that would be why its getting hot. Hopefully it didnt cook it.

The photo is a little grainy but it sure looks like its hooked up backwards. Plus side to switch.

Irlb3034pbf is there a way to post a pic here that is less grainy? The picture was taken with a 12mp camera--should be quite clear. The wire run from the right leg of the mosfet runs under the board and to the negative on the battery. The center post if the 510 runs under the board and cones up and gets soldered to the positive wire that runs from the switch to the positive post of the battery

It got scaled down to a 24kb image size (317x317 pixels). Right click it and check image info. You could upload it to Photobucket or one of the other photo sites and post a link.
