Essentially I'd like something that is as discreet as possible (I don't even care if there is visible vapor), fits in my pocket, and would be about the nicotine equivalent of 1/2 pack of analogs a day or less.

Cheap is fine, I'm on a very tight budget, in fact cheaper may be better because if I decide to upgrade in the future having something cheap that I don't like is better than having something expensive that I don't like.

I see people recommending the Kanger EVOD, ego twist, etc. but I have yet to see an size comparisons to everyday items like a lighter or a cig to know if those are the small discreet type of devices I'm looking for.

I guess I really need to go to a B&M to check them out but finding time to do this will be a problem for a few weeks. With the world at my fingertips I still can't find what I really want to know...

An EVOD setup would be like pen size.

If you have a b&m you can go to them by all means, go have a look see.

I have the Kanger Evod starter kit. Here is a link to a reputable vendor with a good price and free shipping on the kit. If you use the code ECF at checkout, you get 10% off, which makes it about $30.

I just measured my ego with the Evod topper on it. It is 5-1/4" inches long, about the size and diameter of a Sharpie pen. It really is not large at all. If you get it in black, it is pretty unobtrusive. You get 2 batteries, 2 toppers and a charger in the kit. So you can have one charged and ready to go while you are using one. The battery time is pretty good, about 4 or 5 hours, depending on how much you vape. You have everything you need in this kit, except the juice.

I also bought this kit for my adult granddaughter who works as the manager of a bookstore. She is a petite female, and does not find it too big, and doesn't feel like she "stands out" much when she uses it.

If you only smoke about a half pack a day, probably you would want to start with 12 mg nicotine juice and see how that goes. If you smoke more than a half pack a day total, you might want to get higher nicotine.

So I found an ego mini starter kit for $18 online with the EVOD clearo. The kit does not come with extra coil heads though... Should I expect to blow through a coil head in a few days, few weeks, few months? If I had to judge my use I would think it would be the same as the cig breaks I take now, 1 smoke in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and 3 to 4 in the evening.

You might want to look at the JoyTech e-roll. About as discrete as it gets. Size of an analog cig and the PCC looks like an iPhone. Not exactly cheap at +\- $60 but appears to be top notch quality and gets pretty good reviews. I'm just getting in to this myself and trying to quit my pack a day Marlboro Lights habit and this looks like the perfect starter for me.

Depends a lot on what juice you use. Smoking less than half a pack, I would say the head should last about 1 week or maybe up to 2.
