Hi folks. I've currently got the Kanger Subtank Mini, Subtank Plus, and Aspire Nautilus. I'm using these with an IPV D2 and a Sigelei Mini. I find that I go through coils faster than I would really like to. I'm wondering if there are more efficient tanks out there in terms of having to not buy coils every 3-4 days? Also, the Kanger coils seem to be VERY hit or miss. Lots of duds out of the box. Opinions and info welcome. Thank you.

I sense many different recommendations in your future...

What are you looking for in the tanks? Do you want something that supports higher resistances to maintain battery life or do you like the lower ohm coils for more vapor? What kind of issues are you having with the coils, just not lasting more than a few weeks? A lot of people love the Subtanks and I believe the Nautilus is still a popular choice. Are you using the Vertical coils? Those seem to give the best results.

I'd check out this sub forum on clearomizers for info:
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/forums/clearomizers.750/

Some popular tanks right now are the Smok TFV4 and the Uwell Crown, but that's just a few out of the many tanks.

I myself don't have any experience with clearomizers, more of an RTA person. I'm sure someone will post some first hand experience soon.

Good luck! If you need some sites to purchase from we can supply that too.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, tanks itself have little to do with coil durability. The main coil killer is your juice. The more flavorful and sweeter it is, the more your coil suffers and gets charred? faster.

The tank isn't the problem. It's the juice you're using and the amount of power you're using it at that is the problem. There's also a question as to how much your vaping each day. If you're vaping 20ml per day your coils will only last a quarter of the time that they would if you're vaping 5ml per day.

I have both the Subtank Mini and the Nautilus. I use both daily. I go through about 3ml per day at 26-28W with my Subtank and 4ml per day with my Nautilus using temperature control coils. My coils last me more than a month in each tank, but my juices are clear or very lightly colored and there is no sweetener added to them. If you're using a very dark juice with a lot of sweetener then your coils will not last anywhere near as long.

This makes sense as I usually use sweet juice with additional flavor shots. Maybe I need to kill the flavor shots.

I'd venture to bet I'm vaping about 4ml a day.
Juice i'm using always has additional flavor shots. I might stop getting those I guess and see how that helps.
What kind of juice are you using where the coils last a month?? Sounds amazing! Please advise.

Thank you for your responses.

If you're using a subtank mini why not use the deck and make your own coils, it is soooo much cheaper, your. coils will last much longer and you just change your wick and dry burn the coils.

I keep meaning to look into this but I read a lot of things that say it's a big pain in the ... :) I'm going to look into it though. If you know of any guides online that you recommend for using the included RBA in the Kanger tanks I have it would be appreciated.

1. Just looking for good flavor and coil life. Not really into sub ohm having tried it a few times.
2. I seem to have had a lot of duds from my replacement coils packs for some reason. They just only last a few days. Unless i"m nuts?
3. I just realized there were vertical (newer from what I'm reading) and horizontal coils for the Kanger tanks. I don't really use the Nautilus that much at this point.

Thank you for your help!

It's always a pain the first couple of time you do something, each time you learn what not to do until all that is left is what to do. There are 2 things you have to do. The first is learn to make micro coils and the 2nd is how the Subtank mini platform works.

So get yourself a coil master and learn how to make coils with it, any idiot including myself can do it, then buy some Koh Gen Do cotton pads for wicking and some Kanthal wire ? Gauge Wire.

Join a Kanger Subtank Mini thread and find out what do from there or perhaps join before you do anything, they will know far more than I about the nuances of building on their platform. Like what gauge kanthal, what ohms you are aiming for etc.

Good luck with your journey and if you need anything Start a Conversation with me.

"Dud coils" is really what first got me into building coils, and mine weren't even those expensive ones for subtanks and nautilus and suchlike, but it just offends me to pay for something that's broke before I even get it.

Since I build my own coils, you couldn't pay me to use one of those subtanks, atlantis, or nautilus. I use a Kayfun (a rebuildable tank), or I use an Achilles (a rebuildable dripper). Building coils is neither difficult nor scary; learning the wick them correctly does have a bit of a learning curve, but it's also not difficult, just takes a little trial and effort. Once you get the wick and wire and start building your own, you are never again at the mercy of extortionate prices or laggardly mail men.

There are videos all over youtube to teach you how to do it, and lots of folks round here to give you tips, if you have any problems -- that's how I learned; nobody "showed" me how, except on youtube, or here.

Humm.... a bunch of different options presented....
    • use clearer juice and watch the wattage
    • use the RBA that came with your Subtank - lots of youtube videos and you can even purchase pre-wound (you just have to install them with a screwdriver) coils
    • get a RTA - rid yourself of the 'clearomizer/atomizer tax' for good
    • the Nautilus coils can be rebuilt - I just did a Ti conversion on one yesterday
its all up to you as there are lots of options available.

I DIY my own juices. I just stay with very lightly colored or clear juices. The darkest juice I have is a straight vanilla that is a dark amber color, the rest are all either clear of just a very light yellowish brown. My wife vapes nothing but a pure menthol that I mix for her and her coils typically last 2-3 months vaping 3+ml per day.

I try to avoid artificial colors, anything with really dark coloring, and heavy sweeteners in my juices. Those gunk up coils really bad.
