Definitely not one of my prettier mods, I just wanted to see if I could jam it all in there...kinda glue gunny and using up a lot of scrap wire but it works great, plus I hate not having one of my vv's when I want to go stealth...I've got a long stem NO tact in my junk box, I'll probably insert it in the power lead to the meter (currently it's all glowy and numbery when ever I fire), also, it's my first time on one of the madvapes regs...is there anything I should be watching for?...that heat sink and the thermal compound seems a bit of a waste of time...I couldn't get it to sit properly...anyone else have this issue?

Hey, I love your new mod!! Obviously (I think) it's not a phone anymore, but nobody would give it a second thought on your belt. Wonderful!!

I have yet to try Madvapes' new board, preferring myself to use the Poorvari mod design, but eventually I will get to this board. About the heatsink, with such a small IC handling that kind of power would probably call for a way of siphoning off the extra heat, so it is probably a good idea.

You got a pic of the finished product, completely assembled? Possibly an action shot? That has real possibilities.

Thanks for your geat mod.

No, I kinda lost the ability to still make a call on it when I ripped it's little mother board out looking for real estate, ...everyone has the dead cell phone drawer...it's just raining pretty hard today so I was looking around...you know how it is...ya, I'll keep an eye out for heat but like I said, it's more of a stealth, not like I'm chaining on it...it's more of a restaurant/pub vape, hides in the hand plus it's a vv.

turn that into a business .... send in your old ph, you turn it into a mod for a fee :)

Funny you should say that, it's the 4th cell phone mod I've built (1st metered vv though), as far as a buisiness, my ingrate buddies don't pay...I will say one thing...nothing but trigger or mosfet switches from now on...it's hard enough building them, fixing them is a serious PITA

Thanks for the reality check Alan...just doing some real world testing on this thing (I won't be chain vaping it, ya right, who am I kidding...) that chip gets nasty hot (think I'll stick to the to the OKR's for a bit, but in this case it just wouldn't have fit)...though I didn't have any copper sheet handy (on the shopping list), I did slide a stainless shim with a smear of CPU thermal paste on it between the board and chip, hopefully it'll sink the heat...at least better than what it wasn't doing before, btw I did take another look at the Poorvari cct...I just have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to switching 2-3A...just tired of replacing switches (maybe I need some better switches, lol)View attachment 65061

Just so you understand how those linears work.

Say you have some fresh cells for a Vin of 8V. Say you have the output at 4V. The difference, 8 - 4 = 4V is simply being burned off by the regulator as heat. Hit it hard with some lower res atties/cartos and you can imagine the amount of heat being generated that needs to be dissipated... lots.

With the fascination with DCs are lot of folks are having problems with linear equipped mods cutting out and blaming battery protection circuits. They are heat issues... thermal shut down is occurring.

Note this PV.

And the fine print.

We also recommend you use at least 2.8 ohm or higher atty/carto on this unit.

And FWIW this NOT the way to build a mod using a linear regulator.

Nothing like sealing in all that chip cooking goodness by drowing it in resin (I'd say it might be hot glue but after a while it would've just poured out of the mod)...but yup, back to switching regs for me...you have to try em all though right? how else are you supposed to learn?
