After 3 weeks of vaping I've developed a burning and prickling sensation in my mouth. I suspect this is either PG sensitivity or reaction to 18 and 24 mg nic. Am I right? Trying VG 0mg liquid now but still getting the burning maybe mouth needs to do some healing before this will do me any good.
If I do have to go with VG what is the best carto/clearo/tank arrangement to go with since pure VG is so thick?:p:glare:

Hi abasm. Are you drinking enough water? I know that quite a lot of people who've had problems like you're describing just started drinking more water - no more burning tongue!

Another possibility is that, as gingen says, you could be getting hot liquid on your tongue. I'm pretty sure you'd have noticed if that was happening - it's not a very pleasant sensation.

Also, what's your setup? Does it have a very tight draw? If airflow is restricted, the coil will get much hotter which, in turn, wil make the vape a lot harsher than it otherwise would be.

I don't know if it has connection to the liquid or the nicotine, but the idea is vaping a hot liquid so somehow drops of that liquid could get to your tongue. i personally vape for less than a month and i don't vape a lot but i've heard from people about burns.
gingen thanks for your reply. The mouth burn seems to be more general in that its my whole mouth that burns not just one spot so it doesn't seem to be just from hot liquid.

I have upped my water intake but maybe not enough. I'll try drinking even more see if it helps.

Mouth burn seems to be more general then concentrated in one spot so it doesn't seem to be a hot fluid burn.

I'm using an ego with CE4 clearos and tobacco flavoured eliquids. As this is my first setup for vaping I can't really say how tight the draw is but the clearo does get hot but not uncomfortably so. Is there perhaps a tank or clearo that supplies a cooler, smoother vapour
that might help reduce the burn?

when i first started. i got 2 little small spots on the tip of my tongue. very irritating. i chewed them off. they went away and haven't come back. takes a little time to heal. it'll be sore for a little while. i think it was a reaction the juice. i used several different flavors. now i'm down to 2.
btw i'm sensitive to pg. it makes my chest feel heavy so i use pure vg.
brush your teeth more. your mouth is going through withdrawals.
hope any of this helps.
good luck

btw
just to give you an idea.
i use 100% vg
i use a provari @ 4.6 volts on a 1.6 ohm cartomizer
a smoktek locking tank, tank is a tank
get it for less than 20 bucks, looks good, you may have to use an adapter.
has a good toke, good taste, and it's cheap.
if you think about a vivi nova, is a glorified clearomizer.
i just got on and and not real please with it.
look around on youtube and watch some vids, check some stuff out.
good luck

Yup, my guess is it's the PG or the flavoring. I doubt it's the nicotine. Could be the VG, but IMO unlikely. Stay with the VG for a bit and see what happens.

Make sure you're drinking enough water - 8 10 oz glasses a day is a good start. Make sure your juice is not leaking into your mouth. If it does this it will get everywhere in your mouth and it can be irritating.

If you need to go VG only, don't worry, there are many devices you can use and you can also add a couple of drops of distilled water to your juice. This will thin it out quickly without otherwise affecting the juice. I use 50/50 PG/VG and no device I have used gave me any trouble.

2 factors that come to mind...

o Heat from the vapor is severely your oral mucosa
o eLiquid may be getting into your mouth - directly related to the nicotine

Several things that will help...

o Drink lots of water during and between vaping sessions. Swishing the water within your mouth also helps.
o Don't flood your tank. If you hear "bubbles" when firing up the cartomizer/atomizer, then release some juice that may be clogging the air tube.
o Get long drip tips or even drip tip extensions to create a bigger gap from the dissipating heat of your atomizer
Suggestions:

1. Long drip tip
2. Dying Breed Drip Tip Extension
3. Hand Gesture Drip Tip (can be used as an extension)
4. Stacker Drip Tips

I've been using drip tip extensions and it has pretty much gotten rid of the problem. (Unless I chain vape for whatever reason.)

Thanks for the answers they have been helpful.
I have upped my water intake and it does help somewhat.
The pure vg seems to prevent the burning sensation but the only nic fluid I have is pg based. When I add the pg nic to my vg it takes a hour or two for the burn to start but it does occur even when mixed at a low concentration of less than 6 mg/ml. It would be great if I could get along on just the vg but I seem to need the nicotine to control the cravings. Guess I'll have to do some shopping for vg based nic.

This ^^^^ I know if I vape right after I eat, When my taste buds are most sensitive, I get that burning feeling.. I like it personally :D But drinking a good glass of water usually clears it up.

That happened to me and it was the nic level was too high. Once I did something about it, it took a while to get back to normal.

One thing that made a difference for me was being careful where the vapor "hits" in the mouth. I was sending warm vapor right on my tongue which tastes great but, oof, it eventually scorched my tongue and knocked out my taste buds for a while. I'm careful to move the direction of the vapor around often now.
