Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water… err, forum, it’s Movie Quiz time again! :D

You’ve all been here before, so you know the drill. Now, have at it!

*****

The thread will run its course for a week or so, and I'll bump it with hints and whatnot as needed. Answers will be posted when the time feels right.

There are eight screenshots below. Most of them should be fairly recognizable if you've seen the films. So, which of these movies can you identify?

Please answer with movie numbers only, not titles..

Good luck!

I'm reasonably confident I recognize 2, 4, and 8, but not from the movies themselves. I've watched them (the ones I think they are), but don't remember these scenes. The recognition comes from how the setting/visual clues have entered mainstream culture.

RedGremlin -- that's neat. Are those registered-release numbers or something akin? British movies used to have an assigned number -- you can see it listed on the "Passed by Board of Censors" notice at the start of the film.

Thanks for bringing us another Movie Quiz!

Nope, those are the tail ends of movie-identifying URLs.

#6 is a blockbuster. if you can guess what the rest of the wording is on the podium, you should have a pretty good idea of the movie.
Or the (mostly) visible wording on the flag. :D

#3 is kind of a chick flick. Sort of. (It's not a romance.) The actress on the right should be a pretty big clue.
As well as the info in the center graphic between them.

I don't know any. :( I'll try to figure them out though.
I'm sure you'll get at least a couple of `em, vaporgal! :)

:)
they were the only numbers i could think they might be, i didnt think to check previous quiz's, DOH!
No worries at all, RedGremlin. Thanks for playing!

    in a cave, eh?
    *spoilers*

    Your first set of hints:

    1. George Clooney is a clinical psychologist who arrives to a space station orbiting a strange planet to help out after most of the original crew has mysteriously either died or disappeared. Based on a Stanislaw Lem novel.

    2. Interviews and newsreel footage of the 20's and 30's tell the story of a man, Woody Allen, a forgettable schmo, who can change to look like the people around him.

    3. The sequel plays similarly to the original film, putting Jennifer Lawrence (pictured) back in a deadly contest for the entertainment of the residents of a dystopian future.

    4. "Maverick" is a navy fighter pilot sent to the navy's Fighter Weapon's School due to his recklessness in this "Take my breath away ..." 80's Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster.

#1 I need to read the novel and watch the original 1972 version.

#2 is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

    #3 Uggh.

    #4 Et tu, John McCain?

#5 is causing me some trouble. I probably watched it as a kid, and I recognize the actors' faces, but I can't quite place it.

#6 was tough until I noticed the name of the city on the flag and the placard on the podium. ;)

#7 I completely forgot about his role in this film, an although it was a small part, I felt he knocked it out of the park. As far as the film, the director said it was some of his worst work. I disagree.

#8 "Well, I like you, and I want to spend the night with you."
    "Do you mean sleep over?"
    "Well, yeah."
"OK... but I get to be on top."
