It was adorable, and cool. Got to see in in digital 3-d very cool!

I did the same thing last week when I took my daughter and nephew to see the new Harry Potter flick. Sat in the back row under the projector and vaped when I felt the need. I too covered the LED so as not to cause a distraction.

I think the only risk is it being mistaken for a video camera if they have someone using IR looking for cameras. Not really a risk, but it might add to the entertainment.
