Im just trying to figure out if this would be a cheaper option instead of buying it ready made. Cause 2.99 for a bottle of flavoring is not a bad deal at all and they told me in the chat help window that if I wanted 6 mg nic to order the 6 mg nic.
That was the only thing from keeping me from trying DIY...don't want to poison my stupid self! LOL
Another stupid question...do I add the flavoring first or the unflavored
juice?
I think it's cheaper, but let's do a little math to be sure.
$5.98 for 30ml flavoring + $29.99 for 236ml unflavored 6mg/ml is a total $35.97.
At 14% flavoring, you'd could make 214.28ml 5.16mg/ml juice and have 51.7ml of unflavored juice left over. Let's just ignore the leftovers and say it cost $35.97 for 214.28ml of juice. We also aren't considering the cost of measuring devices or empty bottles either, but we're looking at $0.168 per ml.
A 236ml bottle of premixed juice with 1 flavor shot is $40.49 or $0.171 per ml.
So you saved money even if you took that 50ml of leftover unflavored and poured it down the sink.
And as others have noted, it gets even cheaper when you start with a higher concentration of nicotine and dilute it yourself. At MBV nic base is the same price whether you get 6mg or 36mg and the nic is the most expensive part of your mix. In your situation I would not buy anything weaker than 18mg. I can understand why some people fear concentrations greater than 48mg/ml, that stuff is dangerous! But just wear gloves and you should be able to handle something that is 3 times stronger than what you are vaping without worrying. In my own situation, I dove right into 100mg nic base, but I took a lot of chemistry in college and already had a comfort level working with caustic reagents.
As for your last question, you can add the ingredients in any order you like. This isn't like chemistry where you have to
Always
Add
Acid when diluting reagents (or as the GA from Boston said, Acid to Wata is Smata).
On the Ejuice me up calculator If I decide to just get the PG and VG already blended with 0 nic from MBV how would I enter that if Im like using say 48 mg nic base?
I don't believe you can. Not exactly, anyway. Ejuice Me Up gives you a recipe for having your PG and VG added individually. What you could do is just punch in your numbers for starting concentration, target concentration, and flavor %, and then just add the results for PG and VG (e.g. if the recipe gives 2.98 ml PG and 4.38 ml VG, then you just add 7.36 of your PG/VG blend). Just keep in mind that you won't have any flexibility in your final PG/VG ratio if you go that route. But you wouldn't have that flexibility with just vaping strength unflavored + flavorings either, so it's not like you're losing anything, and it would be a bit cheaper.
It might seem like this is a bit of a hassle just to save a couple bucks. For me, it's not about the cost savings. I'd rather just pay a couple bucks to have someone else do all the mixing. But then I'd lose the ability to tweak juices. With DIY you can always mix up a batch of 0 nic and cut your concentration in half if you decide a juice is too strong. Or add more flavoring if flavor is weak. Or mix up a batch of max VG if you are dealing with a mild PG allergy. Or try your hand at a multi flavor recipe. The sky's the limit!
