Techno-We're headed up to Mt. Rainer tomorrow.
Dr. TT- Now you know there are no mountains in Texas--Just really big ant hills...
Ever1-Pompeii would be something to see. I've been to Italy but never made it there. I was stationed in Germany for 7 years and did a lot of traveling...I will say that in all my travels both at home and abroad the sites that affected me he most were when I visited the old Concentration Camps. Even today after 25+ years I can still deeply remember the feelings I had when I walked through the gates and be affected by it. I can only imagine what it was like for the folks who lived it.....

I've got loads of pixs that I'll post as soon as hubby gets them downloaded off the camera!

+1 for living in Deutchland! I spent my first 18 years as an Army Brat. Lived in Heilbronn (Near Stuttgart) for the last few years of high school. Even met my wife over there.

I won't derail your thread any longer, but if I get some time today to scan some pics I'll look into starting an OT thread for some of us who've spent time overseas :)

I've never gotten very close to St.Helens, but it sure is eerie when it lets off a big plume. I'll get up there some day...

I let off a big plume in WallyMart yesterday and had all the great, big, old ladies running for the doors.

LOL, they had to spray about one-third of the store with Febreze!

I was proud of me!

I'm surprised you haven't been there being as it is so close to you. I know lots of people in Seattle area that have lived there all their life and have never taken the drive around Mt Ranier or taken the drive around Mt Olympia through the rain forest either. It is funny people drive all the way across the US to see these sights and people that live there never do.

No worries---you can derail anytime. I've found that some of the most interesting  conversations arise out of hijacked threads

I'll raise my hand. I've only been up to the Olympics perhaps twice...and never to the rainforest up there.
I even grew up over in Kitsap, which is pretty close to the Olympic Penninsula.

I did spend much of my youth going up to Mt Rainier though. I had never even heard of Mt St Helen until she blew up.
I've only been up the Space Needle a couple of times too. The Cascade Loop Highway is a beautiful drive, and I think I did that once too.
Ah well. What I really want to go see is Mt Rushmore...that's a trip for when we get our RV!
