Been reading a lot of threads here saying that abruptly quitting cigs will make this happen, but I am not a former smoker. I did quit [Other Stuff] recently, but that was maybe once a day. I've been vaping the same 2 White Raven liquids for a couple of weeks and towards the beginning of the 3rd week I've noticed my throat slightly swollen, and I have a swollen lymph node. It seems to have started when I switched coils, I have no idea how that could affect it. Could be something in my cotton? (it has tiny particles in it, but i always try to pick them out before wicking) any ideas? I don't think its VG or PG, i've never paid attention to those ratios and didn't have this problem before.

For the first 3 weeks, vaping made me slightly queasy. I was sure that would pass and it did. When I started all I could handle was a Nautilus mini at 8 watts. Today I use temp control at 480 degrees with a 40 watt limit. Your body can detect something unfamiliar and show resistance for a while in all sorts of ways inclulding the ones you mention. In the mean time WHY are you vaping? At least it's zero nic, right? Vaping if you never smoked seems like a dumb idea to me.

I keep seeing this type of attitude way too much. Before we started vaping most of us were smokers. Before we smoked cigarettes we were all non-smokers. WHy did we start? Dumb, bored, wanted to look cool? Maybe we need something to do with our hands? Some sort of fixation or we liked it?

Think about it, our first cigarette was not pleasant, gagged, coughed ? At least with vaping it certainly tastes better?

Not wanting to start something here... but really...

Same as when you did not vape, you are now affecting your body... Like some suggested, could be VG, could the the heat, you now changed the way your body was functioning. You might have to adjust PG/VG, or reduce your resistance etc.

Vaping is better than smoking, and not vaping Im sure is better than vaping... But heck , we all have our vices and reasons for "doing" something...

Another thing could be that you quit one thing that was burning off your bronchial and tracheal cilia and now you are healing and again, stopping one thing will affect you in those ways even if you were not vaping. GIve yourself some time to adjust...

Funny when we smoked we had reactions, and swelling, and hacking etc and that did not stop us :)

The higher the PG in my liquid the more throat issues I have. I tried a 75% VG today from a local vape shop and it was 100 times better for me. I know it will probably clog up my coils quicker but I think it is worth it. I seem to breathe a bit better too. I think for me the PG is just too harsh. And no worries, I haven't smoked regular in 11 years, but started vaping 2 years ago and I had plenty of people tell me it was stupid, but I don't care what they think. It is incredibly helpful in situations like when out having drinks and I would otherwise think it was such a "smart" idea to start bumming cigarettes off people. I carry this with me now and haven't had that happen to me at all in the last two years. I was solely vaping 0nic up until about a month ago. I have a few flavors in 3mg now. I think as long as there is vaping, I will probably never touch a stink stick ever again. I WISH these had been around when I was 16 and started smoking. We all choose our vices. Just like the two cups of coffee I have to have in the morning before I feel like a human and functional :headbang:

:rickroll:<- Ha ha I had to put this one on here, it cracked me up. It serves no relevant purpose. Lol.

Nobody has mentioned dehydration yet? I've read on another forum that vaping will dehydrate you. Something about the something in eliquids pulling moisture from your throat and mouth. My first day vaping I got a terrible sore throat, but I chugged water like crazy. Drank almost 3l that day. Still trying to constantly sip water when my vape is out. I've also found that the area around my mouth is drying out like mad and it's never acted like that before.

The swollen throat is probably the dehydration, but I'm not sure about the phlegm.

I'm not a doctor, this is just my opinion as a vaper.

I find vaping nicotine irritates my throat and lungs slightly but I've never had swollen lymph nodes. That would worry me. It could be a reaction to anything in your juices or the hardware you're using (wick, wire, or atomizer components) or it could be something entirely unrelated. If I were you I would stop vaping and see a doctor about it. If stopping entirely doesn't work for you I would try my best to significantly reduce the vaping and see a doctor.

Best of luck with it and let us know how it goes :thumb:

The other stuff is akin to an estimated 100 times a comparable cig depending on who you ask and can cause the same symptoms as cigs when you quit if you were a daily toker. However, I would suspect your cotton first. Some sterile cotton is bleached and when heated will release fumes along with the vapor. Also good clean cotton should have no particles in it other than fibre pills if it's not combed. Change to a different brand or boil your current cotton.
Make sure you wash your hands before working on a build since anything on your hands can transfer to the wick.
