Hi guys,

Do you know if there are multi meters out there ($20 and under range) that show fractions for ohms? I'm still getting an ohm meter which will obviously get me that, like 1.54 or .18 of an ohm, but I was wondering if there are ohm meters that are fairly cheap and show that type of breakdown for ohms.

I found Klein tools in home Depot but it didn't say that anywhere on the box (45 bucks for that one), and frankly neither did the 16 bucks one from ge electric from Walmart.

It would be nice to compare that to my ohm meter to get a more accurate reading instead of comparing 1.5 from multimeter to 1.54 on the ohm meter.

Anyone found a multimeter that does fractions? And I'm not spending 400 so fluke 87 is out of the question lol

I prefer decimal points as they seem slightly more precise in my mind. I use one that reads down to the thousandths place (when sub-ohm) that only cost me $25.

ETA: and that was B&M pricing, you could probably find one for less online, but I like being able to check the gear out before I buy. It was consistent with other ohm meters when I bought it.

And even a Fluke 87V has a resolution of only 0.1 Ohm when measuring resistance, so no joy.

I have found these lab resistance meters: http://www.transcat.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=resistance+meter but that is more overkill that going duck hunting with a Patriot surface-to-air missile battery.

However, if you are looking for a electrical test instrument that gives results in 3/4, 7/16, etc. I'm afraid there are none. All use decimals.

As posted most the common DMMs have an accuracy of .1 Ohm you will probably be looking at $$$ on a Fluke most of the bench lab meters are serious money. You maybe able to get 2nd user bench meter off eBay but still, most of it goes for good money in working order.

You could look at a LCR meter using Kelvin probes but even at China prices you won't get something at that price.

The other issue is accurate calibration something which is again costs money.

As a test I tried a 1ohm genuine Rose V2 on a few box mods and 6 resistance meters not a single one read the same ;)

It does make me smile when someone says they have built for example a .70 Ohm coil even measuring a piece of kanthal you have to take into consideration so many other factors.

Yeah if you're looking Fluke, the 287 or 289 would be the cheapest models that read ohms to two decimal places. But considering that you'd be taking readings at the very limit of what they're capable of, USA OHM METERS will run circles around Flukes with more accurate readings all day long at about 1/35th the cost.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love my 289, its an absolute beast of a DMM, but its like comparing a $300 Swiss Army knife to a dollar store Xacto knife. No matter how great the Swiss Army knife is, its just never going to do the precision cutting a cheapo Xacto knife built specifically for that purpose is going to do.

Any news on the reader dude?
I have a picture, and multiple places to source from, but no brand name. Also getting this pic to work has been loads of fun.

http://www.madvapes.com/cartomizer-and-atomizer-ohm-meter.html

Here is the link for a place that has them. There probably are better prices elsewhere so you should look, but I know this one is same as mine. I have seen them on various vaping sites as I browse, so just look around.

ETA: you may want to try tobeco or other sites like FT if you don't mind the wait, think I have seen some as low as $15. Big online retailers should carry them. I wish they had a brand name, would make sourcing them easier. Also may try searching for 510 & 808 ohm meter, since it does have an 808 thread as well.

Thank you for taking the effort to upload a pic and responding dude. I could have sworn I thought you were talking about the multi meter.

Alright I'm gonna geta cheapie multimeter from Walmart and an ohm meter to get more accurate reading.

Found a new vape shop yesterday. Awesome staff. Very knowledgeable and very friendly. Got some kanthal a-1 and 2 juices. Spent 50 bucks. My girl was upset. Can't say I blame her. Anyone else got a spending problem with vaping like me? I just want to know I'm not the only one addicted here lol
