I've decided to learn how to recoil and rewick so I just ordered some Kanthal A1 Wire 0.25mm and some Silica Wick 1mm.
I also dug out my old electrical multimeter which I haven't used for 10 years or more.
So I decided to test out my old mizers (mostly Evods) with the multimeter. It was only then that I discovered the meter will only read down to single ohms - currently reading 3 for the Evods. I'm not intending to go sub ohms so will it do only knowing the ohms to the nearest whole number?

You'd be better off getting a new meter that can measure at least to the 10th of an ohm... you can find them for under $20 at Walmart.

There's quite a difference in performance between 1.2 to 1.9 ohms or any other variation between the whole numbers.

Thanks for the advice - more things to spend money on.

Actually... considering that without a good DMM you are electrically blind - unable to test resistance, voltage and continuity/conductivity - it should be, one of the first things to spend money on... but in reality, rarely is.

If you are moving towards using RBAs, with unregulated mechanical mods, or high performance APVs... click on my second sig line hyperlink - read the article and all articles linked within. You'll be a smarter Shirtbloke for it. :)

Wow - a lot of stuff to read there. I'm not planning on going into the heavy stuff, just want to rebuild my Evods and CE5s and save a bit of cash, but it's always good to know what's going on in your equipment. The steam engine calculator looks well useful though. Thanks.
