It’s the battle of the bottles!
Not really, but it makes for a pretty dramatic headline. : )

A little while ago, Backwoods Brew @ www.backwoodsbrew.net took a few days off so the owner could take care of some personal business. This didn’t bother me a bit, except that I was running low on supplies. Figured there was no time like the present to try out a new vendor. After reading many reviews, I decided to give VapeRite @ www.vaperite.com a shot. The following is my opinion of the two companies, how their flavors stack up, and basically the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.

All flavors are vaped on a stock Riva510. I initially sample by dripping 2 drops onto a clean atomizer. If I like what I taste, I load a cartridge with the blue foam mod and vape from there. These are vaped on different days as I tend to load a cartridge and leave the house for the day. I don’t typically change flavors until I come home from work. IOW, I get to spend a good 12 hours with a particular flavor if it passes the sampling drops.

Also, so you know, throat hit has never mattered to me, not even when I smoked. If I bummed a Lucky Strike it was no different to me than smoking a no name ultra light as far as throat hit was concerned. One was much the same as the other as far as my preference goes. Now that I vape, the same is true. It could have punch, or not. I just don’t care.

Flavor and vapor texture is very important to me, however. I’ll be grading on that.
Both companies had prompt customer service, quick shipping, and easy ordering. No complaints there, I’d say you’re safe to order from either firm.

Backwoods Brew Cappuccino vs VapeRite Organic Cappuccino Specs:
Backwoods Brew 10ml at 6mg nicotine, 70%/ 30% PG/ VG mix, vaped straight from the mailbox.
$6.50

VapeRite 18ml at 6 mg nicotine, 100% VG mix, vaped straight from the mailbox.
$14.50

I’ll admit right up front, I am in love with BWB’s Espresso. This is my go to flavor in a world of e-juices that have tasted like burning garbage to me. I would say I’ve purchased well over 100 flavors from various vendors in the last few months looking for something, anything, that I could vape and actually enjoy the flavor of. So, my expectation was that BWB Cappuccino would deliver just as well as their Espresso flavor. I was not disappointed. BWB’s cappuccino has a lovely and subtle creamy caramel top note with a genuine coffee base. Very nice.

Flavor: 8/10 This is solid, genuine flavor. If you’re a fan of cappuccino, good chance you’ll like the way this tastes.
Texture: 8/10 I’ve found that for me, a 70/30 PG/VG mix is pretty much spot on for me. I may not get ginormous clouds of vapor, but I’m also not getting an oil slick sensation across my teeth, tongue, and throat. This is a nice, clean vape that features plenty of flavor when you want it, but doesn’t hang around in your mouth all day.
Would I purchase again? Yes.

VapeRite Cappuccino
I don’t know what went wrong here. Seriously. I placed 2 drops on a clean atomizer and immediately wished I hadn’t. The only way I can describe this flavor is to liken it to burning tires. My significant other was in the same room when I baked this juice and made the comment, “Yuck. Don’t smoke that in here.” I asked what it smelled like. The response was burning plastic. Thinking it might have been something with the atomizer, I loaded a cartridge and tried a fresh atomizer. No dice. This stuff was putrid. Since there are no lot numbers on VapeRite’s products, I have no way of knowing if this was just a bad batch or what. I’m not willing to plop down an extra $15 to figure it out, though.

Flavor: 0/ 10
Texture: 4/10 This is an all VG base, so you do get tons of vapor. I find this to be unpleasant as it coats the inside of my mouth in an uncomfortable way. I did not inhale as I didn’t want this stuff clinging to the insides of my lungs.

Would I purchase again? Nope.

Backwoods Brew Vanilla Bean vs VapeRite Organic French Vanilla Specs:
Backwoods Brew 10ml at 6mg nicotine, 70%/ 30% PG/ VG mix, vaped straight from the mailbox.
$6.50

VapeRite 18ml at 6 mg nicotine, 100% VG mix, vaped straight from the mailbox.
$14.50

Backwoods Brew makes subtle complexity its signature in flavor mixing. I adore this quality in their coffee flavors. In Vanilla Bean, this same flavor mixing philosophy is almost annoying. I really like what I taste, and dang it, I want more! But, that’s not to be with this juice. I can vape this all day and never be in danger of being overwhelmed by an artificial vanilla. This is the real deal as far as flavor goes. Think Briars or true vanilla bean. It’s just a bit weak for my tastes.

Flavor: 5/10 I like it, just seems watered down.
Texture: 6/10 Even though this is a 70/30 mix, it just seemed weak.
Would I purchase again? Jury is out on this. I’m going to let it sit for a bit and see what I think.

VapeRite’s Organic French Vanilla has a pretty solid flavor hit right out of the gate. This reminds me of a local dairy that makes their own in house French vanilla ice cream. There is a hard hitting vanilla without any notes of artificial flavor. Did I mention the flavor is strong? I can’t vape this all day, but it’s nice as an evening vape or as a mixer with other flavors.

Flavor 7/10 Pretty good stuff, but might be too strong as an all day vape.
Texture: 4/10 It’s all VG. I find the vapor too thick and clingy.
Would I purchase again? This is on my list of ‘maybes’. I would certainly try a VG/PG mix next time as all VG doesn’t seem to be for me. I’ll continue to search for a nice, pure vanilla. I may return to this, however.

Backwoods Brew Cinnamon vs VapeRite Organic Sweet Cinnamon Specs:
Backwoods Brew 10ml at 6mg nicotine, 70%/ 30% PG/ VG mix, vaped straight from the mailbox.
$6.50

VapeRite 18ml at 6 mg nicotine, 100% VG mix, vaped straight from the mailbox.
$14.50

You know that scent you catch when you open a new bottle of cinnamon? It’s kind of dry with a kick of spice that brings a warming sensation to your nose. Real cinnamon is an earthy, heavy flavor. Backwoods Brew replicates this taste very, very well. This is not a hot candy flavor, nor is it overly sweet. Your tongue gets a nice, mild tickle on inhale and the full flavor of fresh cinnamon on exhale. You feel as though you just ate the real deal. This is not a flavor that I personally want to vape all day by itself. I mix this one up in other stuff. When I’m having a persistent cigarette craving, a hit or two of this flavor calms that noise down immediately. This is a nice flavor to have on hand.

Flavor: 6/10 I grade it at a 6 only because I use this as an enhancer to other flavors rather than vaping it straight up because of its own merits. Were I grading on how effective a performer this juice is when I want a real smoke, I’d give it a 10/10.
Texture: 9/10 A 70/30 mix works for me. Enough vapor that I’m happy, not so much that I have to scrape it off my tongue when I’m finished.
Would I purchase again? Yup.

VapeRite’s Organic Sweet Cinnamon took me back to my childhood. You guys all remember Big Red chewing gum, don’t you? “Give your breath long lasting freshneeeeeeeeeeeess, with Big Red!” That’s precisely what this juice tastes like. Super sweet candy like cinnamon with an astringent finish. Your breath will not stink after vaping this one. It is because this flavor is so eerily close to the gum that it’s not a favorite of mine. It’s a very, very strong sugary/ candy type cinnamon. I’ve had a booger of a time getting the taste out of my atomizer. (An issue I don’t have with BWB’s cinnamon.) If you like Big Red, this flavor is 100% for you.

Flavor: 5/10 Too much like the real Big Red gum for me. Makes my eyes water, it’s so strong.
Texture: 4/10 All VG in this flavor made it cling to the insides of my nose, the lining of my lungs, the tips of my fingers, and scented the air enough that people in the same room knew exactly what I was vaping without having to be told. I could taste this for hours after I was finished with it. Blah.
Would I purchase again? Probably not, but I can see why cinnamon candy fans would go Coo-Coo for Coconuts over this flavor.

I’m out of time. I have more flavors from these two companies I’ll be reviewing later. Thanks for reading. :)

Nice review! I like the comparison between two suppliers. I love Big Red, and with that I had've picked the sweet cinnamon from Vaperite when I made my order yesterday. I've been trying to find a cinnamon that I like, but have a half-dozen that just don't work for me.

Cinnamon is a tough flavor to nail, I suspect. Depending on who you are, how you’ve used it to cook with, what candies you like, etc… the flavor could mean so many different things to different people. Lots of shades in that one humble spice.

I’ll be reviewing this one on the next go round. I’m such a coffee flavored vaping snob. Lol! ;)
BTW, “That’s one tough kobold.”

I've got a couple flavors coming from Vaperite...I got the Orange Cream in the 50/50 blend. VR4 only comes in VG, but it is a fan favorite.

I plan to review the VR4. I have not had the nerve to try an orange flavor. It could be good, or it could suck. Seems like a $15 gamble. What do you think of the orange?

So many coffee flavors, so little time. I’ll admit, I did not see this customization option on their website. Hmmm…have to check that out.

not really sure what you mean my texture... you mean the quality and fullness of the vapor or?

You’ve got it. How thick is the vapor, what does it feel like in my mouth/throat/lungs. Does it leave a taste behind? Does it make my teeth feel fuzzy? Is it skim or whole milk? Pudding or custard? Broth or stew? I prefer a texture that imitates the thickness and consistency of cigarette smoke. Ciggy smoke is packed with flavor, but pretty thin in texture. IOW, I don’t want vapor I can chew on.

Well written, I just hope that folks reading the thread recognize that both vendors are really good.
I am a BWB fanboy - I mean, 50+++% of my juice comes from there... but I have always promoted Vaperite as well... I haven't tried all the Vaperite flavors as I have with BWB, but the ones I have have been good quality.

Both vendors are passionate about creating juice... and I always feel as though I am getting my money's worth in the sense that they use some many different flavoring from different flavor vendors... take the time to create their own flavorings etc...

Yeah . . . try putting a pinch of cinnamon into your next spaghetti sauce. Mmmmm. I makes the rest of your spice pop!

A fantastic job on the review. Both well written. As someone else said its nice to see a comparison in the event we have tried one vendors product but not the other.

I have tried many of the juices by each of these vendors and as Lastango said both are top notch. There have been a few here and there I personally did not care for but you could still taste the hand made quality.

Thanks again.
