Hey guys... I am wrapping coil for my 3rd time. An experienced guy at my local shop showed me how. It's on a hades 26650 with a mutation v2. After putting it on the ohm reader it's reading .34. I don't feel like this is what it is supposed to be.

I just learned to wrap wrap my kayfun lite plus with him and those numbers are confusing me. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am not trying to blow myself up. And please... No negative comments or flames. I'm asking for advice from what I've heard is a respectable, knowledgable forum. Thanks

Just throwing this out there, but I didn't care for thick wire gauges in my Mutation X V2. The time it takes the coils to heat up was to much for my tastes, even at .2 ohms. I was much happier with 30g wrapped on a 2mm bar. What's really nice about 30g is that each 2mm wrap (for dual coil builds) roughly translates to .1 ohm (technically 0.6 per coil). So 6 wraps for 0.6ohms, 8 wraps for 0.8 Ohms when you have short 3mm legs for the coils. It's not exact, but it gets you in the ball park without thinking to hard about it. Also, watch out for excessive wicking material in and under the coils. Ideally you should be making a " n " not a loop or a bed of wick.

Higher gauge wire = make micro coils 1/16th because higher gauge is higher in resistance per inch, smaller internal diameter of the coil = more wraps while keeping relatively low in ohms.

Lower gauge wire = make larger diameter coils, for 24,25 and 26 I like 3/32 6 wraps. Lower gauge wire has less resistance per inch and will heat up more slowly, but will get hotter. You want to use a larger diameter to keep the ohms where you want them while having enough wraps.

As aforementioned the steam engine calculator is a great tool for estimating the resistance of your build and verifying you built what you thought you did.

As for the Kayfun confusion:
Did your guy at the vape shop put in a single coil? Is it the same coil as the ones you are building for your RDA? If so the KF will have twice the resistance of the build you are making for the Mutation X. Given identical coils, a dual coil build will always have half the resistance of a single coil build.
