Thought I'd weigh in on this as I have been vaping the mutation x v1 exclusively since I got it. Running it on a sigelei 100 for reference, I do not know how this pertains to a mech since I only ran the mut x on a mech for a week or so.
I used standard micros for a few weeks as either 24 or 22 gauge. I found the 22 was excessive on the sigelei as I didn't need to worry about resistance as much. The ramp up/down time of the 22 just annoyed me. 24 was ok and my primary build for a while.
I got inspired and then did a fused clapton. It was a success in that it looked perfect and vaped well but again, ramp up/down time was crazy as the wire was so thick.
Recently I've been building 2 or three times a day (waiting for uni to start up and have the time) and have tried a few things.
Got the 24 parallels down, Again, ramp up time annoyed me, otherwise good surface area.
28 parallels were pretty good, especially 4 strands per coil. Decent ramp up time and surface area was good.
After a while, I settled on 2 strands 26 gauge parallel dual coils. 7 wraps or so. Perfect balance of surface area and efficiency. I swear I got much longer battery life off this build.
Recently I've been mixing up my parallels a bit. For instance, I am currently running a parallel setup with 1 strand twisted 28 and the other quad twisted 32. Awesome look and stellar performance. Got the idea from twistedmesses with his staged heating coil.
Also, did a twisted 28/straight26 parallel last night. Pretty bloody nice but a little bit hot.
Point is, the mut x copes well with pretty much anything but, after I get bored with my current build I will probably just go back to the standard parallel 26s which, I feel, work best with the mut x.
Hope my long winded and frankly dull story helps.
P.S no vapers where I live nor vape shops, so I take the chance to talk about builds when I can.
