So I have a mutation xs. Is this too much cotton? Flavor seems very muted and this is 24g wrapped around a 1/8 drill bit at .35 ohms. Any help would be appreciated

I build my MX V1 at 0.3 ohms sometimes with 24 gauge Kanthal and I thought you had a lot of wraps in your coils. I checked the Steam Engine coil building calculator and I think either you're using Nichrome 80 or one of your coil numbers is off. I get 8 wraps using Kanthal and your numbers.

I think that is a regulated mod, how many watts are you running at? I suspect these coils will not do much until at least 40 watts and you'll notice a lot of heat up time until you get to at least 50 watts + because you have so much wire mass in there, specially if you're using Nichrome.

What I would do first is move the coils out from the center so they are closer to the inside of the cap and over the bottom air holes. I agree with opening up those lower air holes and closing down most if not all of the upper air to start with. I don't think you have too much cotton in the atty, but only you know if you have too much in the coils themselves.

How much air you open up will depend on how many watts you will run, the more watts the more air you'll need. If you find you can't get good performance without going too high in watts, build new coils with fewer wraps and thus less resistance, or switch to thinner wire, 26 or 28 gauge.
