I would love to do that to mine - the ego threading is completely worthless to me.
how did you do it? I took all the screws out and was afraid to pull the ends out for fear I'd break something.

It's a bit tricky.. U have to be a bit violent. Unscrew 4 top screw, pull it out a bit. Then you can se two new screws, it's where the power bottom sits. Pull out the guts and press power bottom on the same time.

I got it open, looked it over and then lost interest. ;-) I'll get back to it when I feel like doing another project. ;-D
