I've had both. The MVP V2 is on its way to a new home. That's not to say the Mini is 4x the product (er, 3x based on what I paid) but I do prefer it for some reason. Probably just psychological but I haven't had a bad experience yet with the Mini whereas the MVP can get flakey in VW mode. VV mode seemed consistent though. Whatever floats your boat though really. I also have a mech mod on the way to try out that side of the fence. It's like anything in life, some folks are content with the speakers on sale at Best buy and others want Dynaudio or JM Labs. To many, a casio digital watch is plenty but Rolex and Omega seem to do just fine as well. Use what you like and don't make it about what you're spending on something. I bought the Mini to be that device I can always count on. I've built numerous "fast" cars and there's always something new and exciting around the corner but more often than not, you find the old cranky guys running the same stuff that's been out forever because it's proven and reliable. To me, that's where the price differences come in. As far as performance goes, I highly doubt I could pick one over the other in a blind test.
For 98% of vapers, there's literally nothing the Provari can do that that MVP can't. Because of that, your analogies are off.
A Provari isn't a fast car. It's a dependable medium priced car. If you want to talk about fast cars, bring up a DNA 20 mod.
