It is a common problem and it is not specific to mvp or to kanger; it is the design of the 510/eGo interface; center pin contact has too little tolerance; that's why some mods have floating pin or adjustable pin.

On the tank side if the tank has 510 thread one modification to help it is to file a milimeter off the 510 thread so that when you put the atomizer or whatever inside it, the center pin on the tank side visibly protrudes out:
Like in the pic below: this tank you see on the left side of the picture the center pin on the tank is visibly sticking out:

Even so though; that leaves the tendency to overtighten the tank and end up pressing in on the battery center pin too hard and causing other center pin issues on the battery side.

Look at this dripper: notice how the center pin on this one clearly protrudes; in fact it looks to me like it's adjustable becase the slothead is made for a screwdriver and there's no airflow involved here because it's a dripper with the airholds at the sides in the topcap.

I'v had my precious pink mvp2.0 shine for about a month now, and suddenly, today, its not recognizing that my kanger mini protank 2 is screwed onto it. I've cleaned the connections, made sure its charged, turned it off and on again...

Any ideas?

Thanks for that. I'm confused as to what it is though; by the looks of it it's ... a washer?

Or maybe there is metal in the middle? The picture isn't clear whether there is metal in the middle- it looks like a space in the middle like a washer, but I guess there must be metal in the middle?

Yes, it's a tiny metal doughnut--not sure what kind of metal, though. The outer ring is green, the inner ring is silver/metallic. The doughnut hole is just a hole in the center.:D

Awesome! In my cart now. No more pulling up hubbies battery pins!

Good luck. Mine is sitting permanently in my MVP's 510 well and I only remove it when I clean the threads. Just be careful--I almost lost one when it got stuck to the bottom of my clearo when I was unscrewing it from the battery. They are very small...

Yup!

Not only the 510 interface. The kr808 connection has the same problems. In the old days, we used a "staple mod" to correct that problem. With some creative bending of a small staple one could ensure there was contact. ;)

Oh; ok, so what that really does is it ensures that the male 510 thread on the tank side does not short out on the positive center pin on the battery side; oh well; worth a try I suppose; it wont help the most common problem of a depressed center pin though.

The pictures are no longer available but judging from the description, sounds like using a staple as a makeshift spring to ensure contact between tank and battery positive pins.

No, it actually fixes connectivity issues with deeply set center posts. Of course, if you pushed your center pin way too deep by over tightening, maybe the pin will have to be pulled up a bit to it's normal position. I don't know because it never happened to me--I always make sure not to over tighten.

I had a problem with a few clearos not making contact with my MVP2; I dropped that disc in and the connectivity was restored without any fiddling.

Just my experience--YMMV, of course. :D

Yup. Just a little creative twisting of a plain staple. :D

It worked--same idea. The circuit board spacer is much more elegant--and easier to use.
